I i general object ofz thisjinvention is to;
positively hold a washboard against imove LoirsIUsooni, "or cnnm zssnae; WEST vmenvm.
To -all whom-it may-concern; Be itlmownjthat I',-ALOYSIUS COL citizen of the United States of America, residing at Glarksburg, in thezcounty of'Harrison and State of :West' Virginia, have invented certainfnew and useful Improvementsm "Wash board-Clamps, and-I1 dohereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, suchas will v.enablefothers skilled in thevart to which "it ap'pertainsto make and use the same.
i ment, 3with respect to .the' wash"tub,'- during 7 the clothes washing operation ;jand to this endfthe' invention consists in the provision 5 Z of a ;pair of companion clamping ;me3nbers, having ad uStable ;c'onnect1on ,w th each mg is a specification, referencebeing" had to, 7 i the'a'ccomp'anylng drawings 'formlng apart isitioned within the thereofl in which; 7 I V a p Figure 1 isa top plan view offa wash tub,

With the above and other objects iniview, as will more fully appearifrom that embodi ment of myinvention, of'which the, follow- :Referring narv construction,landjB a washboard potub. The device for engaging clamp. The tub-engaging clamp- I ing member :is formediof a'singlel'ength' of wire, bent-to 'provide'an -arcnate portion 1, Qnhich isadaptedtoengage the ontsi'defof the ftub, the said Wire being continuedfrom the l opposite endslof the'portion liandbentto "form the attaching portions '2. and-3,{ the Q ends of; the wire' being extended: from the attaching portions in converging" relation, gas shown 'at e and 5, and terminally secured toa threaded sleeve 6,; r

Each arm-Lisbent arms have their terminals adjacent the in clined portions 9 and lOeXtendedLinthe di-Y J rection of each other, as shown' at "11v and 12, and securedto a threaded sleeve 113. The sleeve 13 is arranged in. alinement with the sleeveb, and the said sleeves form Lbearings fora-feed scre wfl, This'feed screwl't has .one end provided witha wingnut l5, and has its opposite end located between the converging arms 4 and 5 and terminally providedwith ahead 16, which is adapted i when the screw travels in the direction of thearcuate portion l,to-engagethe inner surface of the side of the tub, and form with the arcuate portion; clamping means for.

,1 of the drawings.
L The arms? and 8 of the board engaging member are provided with alined threaded openings 22 and 23 respectively. Extend v ing through the openings '22 and 23ris a,
'rod' 24, which rod has one end provided with an enlarged head 25 adapted toengage'the'outer surface of. the arm 8, and" the opposite end of the rod QeL-is extended through the hooks 19 and 20 of the board engaging members. The nut 15. is then turned, so as to cause the screw 14 to move in the direction of the arcuate portion 1 of 5 the tub engaging member, resulting in the described,
From the foregoing description, it will be seen that I have provided a very effective holding device .for washboards, one that can be manufactured cheaply, and one that can be expeditiously attached or detached from the board and tub.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new is 1. A washboard holder comprising a pair 3 of relatively adjustable arms adapted to underlie the washboard when the latter is in operative position within a wash tub, means carried by the arms for engaging the washboard, one of the said arms having a 1 l threaded opening therein, a rod having one end connected to the other arm and having Copies of this patent may be obtained for its opposite end'threaded and received by the threaded opening in the first-mentioned arm, and means adjustably mounted on the last-mentioned end of the rod and operable against the adjacent arm and adapted when operated to efi'ect adjustment of the arms, and means for attaching the arm to the wash tub.
2. A washboard holder comprising a board-engaging member having a threaded sleeve, a tub-engaging member located in spaced relation with the board-engaging member, a threaded sleeve carried by the tub-engaging member and aiming with the sleeve on the board-engaging member, a screw adjustably mounted within the threaded sleeves, and a tub-engaging head carried by the screw.
3. A washboard holder comprising a 7 board-engaging member, a tub-engaging member, and means for connecting the board-engaging member to the tub-engaging member and adapted to engage the tub for holding the tub engaging member on the tub.
In testimony whereof I aiiix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
