A To aZZvwLo/mit may concern -v Be it known that we, OSCAR H. Pmrn and'ALPnoNsE F. Pinnen,- both of Rochester, in the county of Monroe and State of New 5 York', have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Fluid-Pumps; and we do hereby declare the following tobe a full, clear, ,and exact description of the same, reference being -had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this speciication, and to the reference-numerals marked thereon.
Our invention relates to fluid pumps,l with reference particularly to that classI of devices designed for compressing` air or other luid, and it has for its object to improve the construction of such compressors, so as to aord an apparatus thatv can be economically manufactured, and will at the same-time render the working parts readily accessible for adjustment and repairs.
A further purpose of the invention .consists in providing a structure that is simple in its arrangement, and extremely eiicient in operation, while reducing to a minimum the tendency of the parts to get out of order or operate in an imperfect manner.
To these and other ends the invention con- .sists of certain improvements and combinations ofparts all as will be hereinafter more fully described, the novel features being pointed out inthe claim at the end of the specification. l v

The upper valve chambers are connected with an air outlet F which may lead to a' suitable air supply tank, while F2 designates an air inlet supported'atl the bottom of' a holder F3, which is attached to the lower section D of the casing and connects the air inlet thereto. The holder F5 is provided with suitableY filtering means, consist-ing in the present instance of a mass of cotton F4 filling the interior thereof and surmounted by a cover l?l5 of wire gauze, or other suitable screening material. 'lhe air entering through the inlet all"2 passes upwardly through the filtering material, above the valves AE and thence into the cylinders A2 from which it is forced above the valves E8 and out through the passage F. 'llhe tops of the upper section are held in engagement with such section by suitable means which may operate at the same timel to hold the upper section in 'engagement with the lower section of the casing, and
this is preferably accomplished'by a yoke member Gr arranged to engage the tops E5 of the upper section in the manner shown in Fig. 4f, said yoke member being held in position by a bolt G2. which engages the threaded opening in the lower section.
'lhe crank case, designated at H, adords an oil reservoir at its base, which may be filled by removing the plug H2, and H9 are dished portions or recesses in the base of the crank case adapted to receive the mobs or projections H4 carried by the crank connections, as the crank shaft is rotated, whereby the lubricating duid is furnished to the upper parts of the case, and is'thence tedto the crank shaft bearings through suitable passages H5, and openings H formed in the bushing H7. '.lhe bearings are provided with passages H8 arranged in spaced relation to the crank case and surrounding the crank shaft, the latter being provided with suitable projections, preferably in the io accenti of disks H9 fixed thereon, which rotate within said passages H3. @penings H1 afford communication between the passages H8 and the interior of the crank case, and by this construction, a continuous circula'- tion of the lubricating Huid is maintained, around the crank shaft Within the bearings until it reaches the projections H, whence it i'sreturned to the crank case through the passage H10.
