`T|M0THY ROGERS. Improvement in Blowersr.
Patented Oct. 24,1871.

zz/ m Inventor @fw Wfl/f?? i UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
TIMOTHY ROGERS, OF FREDERIOKTOWN, OHIO.
IMPROVEMENT IN BLOWERS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 120,328, dated October 24, 1871.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, TlMorHY ROGERS, of Fredericktown, in the county of Knox and in the State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Blowers; and do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawingI and to the letters of reference marked thereon making a part of this speciiication.
The nature of my invention consists in the construction and arrangement of a blower, as will be hereinafter more fully set forth.
In order to enable others skilled in the art to which my invention appertains to make and use the same, I will now proceed to describe its construction and operation7 referring to the annexed drawing, which represents a longitudinal vertical section of my blower.
A represents the casing, provided with an outlet-tube, B, and central openings C. Across these central openings are cross-bars to form bearings for a shaft, D, passing through the center of the casing. This shaft D is provided with arms E E, to the outer ends of which are at tached Wings G G, and on each side thereof' is an annular disk, H, thus forming the wheel of the fan or blower. To each wing G is attached a cup, I, constructed as shown in the drawing, so that when the fan revolves said cups will form a vacuum, or nearly so. J is an outside tube leading into the discharge-tube B at the point where said discharge-tube communicates with the inside of the casing'. The cups I I forming a vacuum, as described, the air will rush in from the pipe J, and thus, it will be seen, a current of air is taken from the outside in addition to the central suction common to all fans of a similar nature.
Havingthus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The within-described blower, consisting of the casing` A with central opening O and outletlpipe B, fan D E G with cups I I, and the outside suction-pipe J, all substantially as and for the purposes herein set forth.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing I have hereunto set my hand this 24th day of July, 1871.
TIMOTHY ROGERS.
