Be it known that I, NArnw J. LLOYD, a citizen of the United States. residing at in the county of Silverbow and State of lrlontana have invented Certain new and useful llmprovemenf in Centrifugal Separators, of "which tliffillowing is a specification.
ll/fy invention relates to new and useful ilnprorements in separators and more par ticularly to centrifugal separators.
The primary object of the invention is the provision of a separator of simple construction which will efl'ectually separate the lighter from the heavier materials.

The numeral 17 indicates the body portion of a bowl having a downwardly extending member 18 provided on the end with a tongue adapted to be received in the forked end of the shaft 8. A cap 19 is received in the bottom of the base and has an extension entering the base and overlying the meeting ends of the extension 18 and shaft 8. bushing 20 is received between the lower end of the casing 13 and the extension on the cap 19. The body portion 17- of'the bowl is provided at the circumferentially spaced openings 21 and the top is threaded interiorly. A cap 22 having the downwardly extending ribs 23 formed integral therewith is received in the top of the body of the bowl 17 and the ribs 23 extend downward into the bowl. The cap is provided with the exterior threads 24 80 which engage the threads on the interior of/ the body of the bowl. This cap is also provided with a plurality of circumferentially spaced notches 25 which are adapted to be brought into registration with the openings 21 formed in the body of the bowl and entering the openings and notches are the bushings 26 having enlarged heads and central openings. The cap 22 is provided with the flared top, as shown at 27, the purpose of which will be presently described.
Secured on the top of the casing 13 is a cover formed in two sect'ons 28 and 29 as is more clearly shown in Fig. 6 ings. When brought together the two sections are secured by means of bolts passing through the flanges 30 and the cover is secured to the body of the casing by means of bolts passing through lugs 31 and through the openings 16 formed on the flange 15 of the casing. When the sections are brought together they form the central opening 32 and the sections are each provided interiorly with a flange 33 forming a concaved receptacle 34.- The section 29 is provided with a spout 35, as is clearly shown in Figs. 1 and This spout leads from the coneaved receptacle 3A formed in the 6 of the drawings.-

Mounted within the receptacle is a basin or lining 37 the lower end of which is bent .to form a channel 38 and the upper end of which is bent, as shown at 39, to closely fit and engage the wall of the receptacle and the cover therefor. One side of the basin or lining 37 is cut away and bent to form a spout -l0 which passes through one of the openings 14 in the casing 13.

The material to be. separated is fed through the supply pipe 36 and is deposited on the bottom of the inner bowl 1?. The bowl 1? is adapted to be rapidly rotated through means of the gears 10 and 11 and as it is rotated the heavier particles will be thrown by centrifugal force toward the sides of the bowl and will rise and be (lischarged through the openings in the bushings 26 and deposited in the basin 3? from which they are discharged through the spout 40. The lighter particles will follow the ribs 23 formed on the cap 92 and will be carried toward the center of the bowl 17 and rise througi the opening in the cap and over the flange 27. The basin or lining 37 can also be readily moved for cleaning purposes. Having fully described the invention what claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:

A centrifugalseparator comprising a bowl having screw threads formed on its interior at its open end and a. plurality of openings extending through said bowl and through said screw threads. and a cap pr0- vided with screw threads for enga ing said screw threads on said bowl and having a .plurality of notches on its lower engaging spaced openings.

A centrifugal separator comprising a bowl having a plurality of circumferentially spaced openings. a cap having an opening therein connected to the bowl and provided in its lower edge with a plurality of circumterentiallv spaced notches adapted to register with the openings in the bowl, and bushings received in the eircumf'erentially spaced openings and notches.

A centrifugal separator comprising a bowl having a plurality of circumferentially a cap having a central opening connected to the bowl and provided on its lower edge with a plurality of notches adapted to register with the circumferentially spaced openings, hollow bushings received in the openings and notches, and a plurality of vertical ribs formed on the cap and extending into the bowl.
7. A centrifugal separator comprising a stationarv casing, a rotatable bowl provided with av plurality of circumferentially spaced openings received in the stationary casing, hollow bushings received in the openings, a cap having a central opening secured to the rotatable bowl, a flange formed on the cap adjacent the central opening, and a sectional cover secured to the stationary casing and engaging beneath the flange of the rotatable bowl.
