To all whom z't may concern:
Be it known that I, SARAH McAlester, in the county of Pittsburg State of Oklahoma, have invented certain new and useful lmprovementsin Police-Alarms; and I 'do hereby declare the following to be a and exact description of the in.- vention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This inventionrelates to a police alarm.
An object of the invention resides in the provision of an electrically operated alarm for indicating, automatically, at a central station when house, vault or the iike ,is being entered or when the ing from the house or vault is out.
A further object of the invention resides in so constructing the device that manually operabie means-1s provided for communicating with the central station.
I .With these and other objects in view such as will appear as my description progresses my invention comprises'the combination and ing within the scopeof the appended claim.
In the drawings: Figure 1' is a front elevation oi the receiving board in the central station; Fig. 2 is a rear elevation of the same; Fig. 3 is a vertical sectional view through the receiving board; and Fig". 4-. is a diagrammatic view of the entire alarm system. e
My device comprises, briefly, a receiving board in a central station on which board is mounted an eiectromagnet, a lamp and a drop signal. The iamp is included in one circuit and the elrectromagnet in another circuit, the lamp circuit being normally closed and the electroniagnet circuit open so that thelamp will be continuouslylighted and the electroniagnet actuated to release the drop signalupon the closing of the circuit in which it is included. magnet circuit is provided with a plurality of switches which may be located in a house,
vault or the like and which maybe operated either'by the open ng of awindow ordoor or by the actuation of a push-button. from the central station are. included in a cable which .passesirom the central staiion to the house; Thusshould this cable be cutand ,the elwt-romagnet circuit 1 F. Sc ooner, a citizen of the United States, residing at line wire leadas set forth in and fall- The electrothe raising of-a window or broken the lamp at the central station will be entmguished because of the breaking of the circuit in which it is included.
*- Referring to the drawings wherein a speciiic embodiment of niy invention is iilustrated and wherein like parts are indicated y views:
$0 like characters throughout the. severai iu'the embodiment of the invention shown in the drawing a receiving board l,
which is located at the central station, is
illustrated. Mounted on the rear face of this board is a buzzer 2, the armature 3 of which extends through the-board and ou gages the upper edge of a; drop signal i. The armature is so arranged that when the buzzer is energized it will be moved to release the drop signai a.
Extending from the forward iace'of the board 1 is a lamp 5 which is mounted in a a socket (S which extends from the rear face of the board, Located in the house is a source 7 of electrical energy which may be either transformer as illustrated or batteries. A circuit passes from one pole of the trans former through a wire 8 to the-lamp socket (3, through the lamp, and through a wire 9 back to the transformer. be continuously lighted when the circuitin which it-is included is not broken. A. second circuit passes from the source 7 through the wire 8, through the wire 10 to the binding post 11 oiz'the electromagnet, through. the electi'o nagnet 'tothe binding post -12, through the xvii-e13 and through a return Wire 14 to the source 7. nected to the wire 13 and to a'contact 16 and a wire 17 is connected to the wire 14, and through a manually operable switch 18 to a switch blade 1; which blade is adapt- .ed torohperate with "the contact 16. Thus when the switch 18 is in and the switch blade 19 engagesthe contact 16, the electr'omagnet' circuit will he ciosed, the eiectromagnet xner numbe; of the switch tacts 16 is limited only by the number of windows or doors on which they areinounted and they be installed on any or ali of the windows and doors in the normally opened buzzer circuit may be closed by any of thesW-itch blades 13$ upon the opening of a door. v in order that the biia'zer circuit may he A wire '15 is con Thus the lamp will a house.
