Description

E. A. SARGENT.
VALVE GRlNDER.
APPLICATION FILED 0201,1915

Elmwwboz come against the next adjacent walls of the valve chamber. The attaching flange 22 of each of said centeringmembers is provided with a longitudinal slot 24. Screws 26 pass through said slot and into the crown 2. It isevident, through the described formation that the centering devices may accommodate themselves to the internal diameter of a valve chamber of a known size, causing the bearing 3 to be centered in the chamber and insuring against lateral derangement of the grinding tool from the kerf of the valve. This last named feature, when combined with the precise location of the motor 5 combines therewith to invite a satisfactory operation of the tool at all times. The handle 7 is located in line with the grinding tool 9 and slight pressure of the hand may be readily applied thereto for the purpose of preventing vertical derangement of the grinding tool from the valve.
The motor 5 which is conventionally shown herein is of the electric type and the lead wires thereof may be extended to any well known electric source. The electric circuit may be controlled by a suitable pressing having a depending bearing receivlng the tool therethrough, driving means for the tool, and centering members adjustably mounted at the-base of said casing, fiespectively at opposite sides of said bearing, said centering members being adapted to be inserted in the valve chamber and engaging against the walls thereof to hold the tool against lateral displacement from the valve, the said tool driving means comprising a motor located above the tool in axial alinement therewith and serving to hold the tool against undue vertical displacement from the valve.
Intestimony whereof I, afiix my signature in presence of two witnesses. EARL A. SARGENT.
