SIGNE HoLTER .'or NEW AUBURN, wisconsin QILTER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed March i2, 1915. Serial No. 13,900.`
To ad whom 'It 'may concern i Be it lcnown that I, Siusi; Henri-zn, a citizen of the United States, residingat New Auburn, iu the county of Chippewa and State. of "iseousin, have invented new and use-ful Alin]n-oveinents in Quilters, of which thelfollowingis a specification.
The present invention relates to a coini bi'ned table and quilting frame.
'i0 The invention contemplates the provision of a device of this nature wherein the table can. be readily converted into a quilting frame and vice versa, the structure being adjustable to vary its size, and capable of i5 being folded into a comparatively small article when not -iu use..
Other objectswill appear as the following .description is read in connection with the accompanying drawing, the invention residing in the construction, combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter more fully described.' v Q In the' drawing forininga part of this a ppl ieatio'n vlike v'nuineralsof refe-rence indicate similar parts in the sei'eral views and tain of the leaves of the table top removed.
Fig. 2 is a. sectional view taken on lineJ 1 -'L 3e of l["ig. 1.. Fig. 3 is a detail view of one of the Iorner plates. Fig. 4- is a vertical sectional view through one of. thc'eorners and supporting legsof the device. Fig. 5 a
. sectional view through the lernes of the top.'
lFig'. is a detail view of one end of a leaf.
referring in orc'particularly to he draw- Aing 5 designates the titanic comprising the lside members (31 and end members 7. Se-
cured at-each of the four corners of the 4 0 vframe are the siil'istantialliv V-shap'ed brace" plates-8, formed with a base liange il seeuredto the under surface of the frame by Ameans of the fasten-ing bolt-slt). Depending from the'base flange f are spaced lugs 1l,
between which the supporting legs 1L- are pivotally supported upon the' bolt i3. Each of the supporting legs-1?. pxovided with a suitable opening 1i for the reception of .one end of the angular shaped locking elcment 15 hiounted -upon the free end of thc pivot bolt f13, whereby the supl'iortiug legs are'y held in xed relation to the frame when the thu'inb screw lt', tightened against the locking element 15. One of the lags l1 is provided with a slot 11' opening at its lower end, for the reception of the shoule is provided for the purpose of'f'istening the.
der 15. of thelockiiig element inthe Inannei` shown in Iiig. -.t,. to assist in holding theI leg in a fixed position. The depending lugs 1'1 are disposed in parallelism with the side 6o and end hars C and 7 respectively to permit the legs to he folded inwardly againstthe frame when the device-is not in use, vit of course being understood that the locking element. 15 must be first disengaged from the A65 lees to permit of thelatter being folded.
the side. and end members each comprises two sections, one of. which is formed with a longitudinally disposed dove-tailed rib .17 which is slidahly fitted in the correspondingly shaped slotlS in. theV other fof `said sections to .permit the franieto .be ad-A .pisted to any'desiiied size. Securedto the underside of the. lowerinost, sectionof each'g 'of the. side and end i'neinhersi thumb 75` .screw -IJ for retaining the sections, relativelyr` tixedia. 'any desired adjusted "position Secured to the inner. edgev of each ,o-the s'ee- 'tions of tlie'sidoand .end members,- lsan angle. bar 20', these.'barsj,beingdarrangedf,8o superimposed. and-having-ther longitudinal ledges of theI horizontal ianged.p 0rtions 4.l."igure L isa perspective viewwitheerlation so that on the..iiiaxiiiiiiin adjustinent of the. frame air uninterru'lited edge portionv quilt to thc'frame. 90
When` the deviecis' used as table the leaves constituting the top` arc placed in position, the endleaves fbeingfprovided with-dcpcndinglugs 2i adapted to be arranged in the lcorner of the frame' to prevent 95 relative movement thereof, The intermediate leaves 2'3 are then placed in position,- the meeting edges of-theseleaves 'being connected by the usual slot and pin connection.
'1.3. it is-of course tobeunderstood that lee :in vnumber of-'these leaves may be employed. this depending upon the desired size of the table. Manifestly I have provided a' table that. can he'quicldy converted into a quilting fran'ie, the structure being capable 105 of quick adjustment to any desiredsize.
t believed that from the foregoing deseription the nature and advantages of the invention will he readily understood withont requiring a more extended explanation, il'. and therefore the .vaine has been omitted. However I desire to have it understood that various changes in the construction and arrangement of parts may be resorted to when desired as fallv within the scope of the uppended claim.
What I claim is In a device ofthe class described., e frame x including side vand end members, substantially V-sliaped corner plates having a bilSe liange secured to the under side of the frame,
vertical flanges secured vto the adjacent edges of theside and end members, spaced lugs depending from the baseA flange, supporting legs pivotally mounted between said lugs, one of said lugs having a slot opening at its lower end, an angular shaped 1oclr- 15 being formed with a shoulder adapted to be received within said slot, and means for re- 20 taining' said element in this position to hold said legs fixed relatively to said frame.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature l in presence of two witnesses.
