In mounting Such an inclosed fuse, it is customary to thrust the Contact ferruleends thereof into clips and where the clip is of lai-gre size and made of heavy resilient metal, particular dilhcultyl is qxperienced in inserting or remo ing thejuse.

YIt is the primary purpose of the invention, therefore, to provide a clip having" prefer ably as a part thereof, means by which the lips of the clip can he quickly and easily separated to provide -for the ready mounting: or dismounting of the fuse.

ln the draivings accompanying and forming;l part of the. present specification l have shown in detail one of the'many different forms of embodiment of the invention which l will set forth in detail in the following description. l do not restrict myself to this disclosure; l may depart therefrom in several respects within the scope of the in` vention defined by the claims following said description.

Referring to said drawings: Figure 1 is a perspective view of the clip. Fig. 2 isa like view of an expander for said clip. Fig. 3 is a top plan View, and, Figs. 4 and 5 side elevations of a fuse and its adjunets constituting' a so-called connectorv and in,` eluding lwo clips provided with expanding means embodying the invention. Figs. 6 and 7 are end, views of the connector shown in Figs. il, 4 and 5, Fig. 7 showing the connector inverted, the expander being in its cxtreme positions in the two views.

ln Figs. fl to 7 l have shown a connector such as used in certain ypes of meter testing devices, the saine comprisingl a. suitable block as 2 of some suitable insulating material as porcelain. As the two clips are the same in construetion a detailed description of onewill apply to the other, and in this connection reference may he had specifically to Fig. 1. The clip shown in this view comprises the base 6 and the two lips 7 and 8 rising therefrom, the

As illustrated thel clip 3 is of integral construction and sufiiciently resilient so that the lips 7" and 8 can tightly embrace or hug the ferrule end portion of the fuse, suilieicntly to make goed contact and prevent accidental dislodgment of the fuse. The lips or branches 'i' and 8 are relatively expanded or spread whereby their grip on the end ferrules of the fuse is released and thereby` provide for the' easy insertion or removal of a fuse. To thus relatively expand, spread or separate the lips 7 and 8 the clip is provided with an expander or spreader. VAn expander such as that denoted 1n a general way by 12 answers satisfactorily in this connection and the mounting, construction and mode of opmore particularly described. Ifhe lip 7 as shown has near its free end the seatas 13 in the forni of a slot elongated transversely of the lip. The lip 8 is longer than the lip 7, itsextended portion 14 having interiorly an inward lai-tige 15 for a reason that will hereinafter apjea'r and also having a slot 16 elongated in t e direction of the length of said lip 8. The body 17 of the expander 12 is bowed outwardly so that it interferes in no wise. with a fuse when inserted in the clip.
