'Improvement in Revolving Refjr LLCPEJTT` FFICE.
GYRUS AVERY, OF ERIE, PENNSYLVANIA.
Speciiicationforming part of Letters Patent No. 119,443, dated October 3, 1871.
To all whom it may concer-n:
Be it known that I, GYRUS AVERY, of the city and county of Erie and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and Improved Revolving Refrigerator and Water-Cooler; and I do hereby declare that-the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the annexed drawing and the let-ters of reference marked thereon, the same forming a part of this specication.
The object of my invention is to provide a combined revolving refrigerator and water-cooler for use in saloons, 821e., for keeping bottles of liquor cool and for providing` cool Water.
The accompanying drawing represents my invention in one figure, which is a vertical sectional view, and which represents my invention as follows, reference being had to the letters of reference marked thereon.
E is the revolving tank or refrigerator, G is its case or cover, and H is the base, which is the cool-water tank. Thel revolving refrigerator or tank is constructed. as follows: First is constructed the body of the tank E, on which fits the packed or iilled cover F, and around the sides of which are the bottle-pockets A A A,
Ste., of which A and A are shown in section and the backs of the others in perspective. These pockets are round so as to perfectly iit the bottles. They are in no way connected with the tank E, so the bottles are not wet; but the cold ice-water of theV tank passes and remains on all sides of the pockets A A, Ste., as will be seen by reference to the pockets A and A', which are shown in section. There it will be discovered that the pockets do not reach to the bottom of the tank, and that, as before stated, the water in the tank surrounds the pockets. A tube, j, will be seento pass from the pockets through the bottom-of thetank E. This is to allow the condensation or sweat which forms on the cold bottles to drip down into the chamber L, which is the space between the tank E and-the base H. In the center of the tank E is a core, I, which is braced at the top by the cross-piece K. In this core is the standard J, on which the revolving tank E, with its bottle-pockets, &c., is pivoted. h is a discharge-tube. Gr is the case, which fits over the revolving tank, and in nowise interor it may be made of glass. The object of this u case is-.to retain the cold atmosphere around the bottles. It is designed to be used or not, as the person using may desire. This constitutes a full V description of the revolving refrigerator.
The other part of my invention, or the watercooler- H, is constructed as follows: As before stated, this is the base of my invention and is formed into a tank for the cold water, which passes off from the tank E through the dischargepipe h. The Vsides D D and bottom D D are made double and lled or packed after the manner of water-coolers generally. A removable cover, B B, (also lined and packed,) is placed over this and just beneath the tank E. This cover is removable so as to allow the lower or Water-chamber M to be cleaned. The cover B B is concave on the top so the water from the tank above will iiow toward the center. At this point is located a filter, C, which has a perforated cover, d, through which the water runs, passing through the charcoal of the filter and through the perfoforated bottom cinto the chamber M, from which it is drawn by the cock a or overiiows through the waste-pipe f.
What I claim as my invention is as follows:
1. The combination of a revolving refrigerator with the base H, so constructed as to form a water-cooler, as herein set forth. Y
v2. The construction of a revolving refrigerator with bottle-pockets, so constructed that the wa ter shall pass on all sides of but not enter the same, in the manner and for the purposes set forth.
3. The bottle-pockets A A A, &c., constructed as described, in combination with the dischargepipe j placed in the bottom of the same, as and for the purposes set forth.
4. The removable cover B B, with the centrally-located lter C constructed therein, combined with the base H, as herein described.
5. The combination of the case G with the revolving refrigerator, as herein set forth.
' CYRUS AVERY.
