tric Currents, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to apparatus for cooling heated air by electric currents and it has for its object an improved device of this character arranged to absorb the heat from the air, leaving the air in a cooler condition than before, and rendering it possible to utilize the-heat so absorbed.
Further objects and advantages of the invention will be set forth in the detailed description which now follows.
In the accompanying'drawing, Figure 1 is an end view 0 a cooling apparatus constructed. in accordance with the invention, Fig. 2 is a view of several of the disks which go to make up said apparatus, and Fig. 3 is a longitudinal sectional view of the apparatus.
Like numerals designate corresponding parts in all of the figures of the drawing.
Referring to the drawing, it will be seen that the apparatus comprises a cylindrical casing 5in which a fan 6, is journaled at 7 said fan being provided with pulley 8, or other power applying element, said fan being adapted to set up a current of air longitudinally through said cylinder. A plurality of rings .9, are employed, having peripherally arranged therein, wires or conductors 10 and 10, with which vertical wires, or conductors, 11 and 12 connect. These wires, 11 and 12, are of dissimilar metals and the junctures of these wires are enlarged as at 14. 'Each ring 9, is therefore provided with a horizontal row of these enlarged connections between the dissimilar metals but these rows are arranged at varying heights illustrated in Fig. 3, so that in front elevation the structure appears as in Fig. 1.

negative lead at 20, it being understood that these leads provide means for passing a current of electricity through wires 11 and 12, and consequently through the enlarged connections 14 thereof, and the current of air impinging upon these connections while thus energized is cooled .in a manner well in place binding screws 15, are threaded through the walls of the cylinder and serve the double function of holding the disks in place, and of providing members which contact with the conductors l0 and 10 and a common conductor 16, is connected to all of. these binding posts and the ends of these binding posts enter recess 17 see Fig. 2, formed in the rings and establish electrical communication between conductor 16 and conductor 10. In like manner, the binding screws 15, at the bottom of the structure are connected by a common conductor 18.
The positive'lead of an electric circuit is indicated at 19, and the negative lead, at 20, and it is apparent that after the heat has beencollected from the air by the apparatus hereinbefore set forth, I this heat may be utilized in any well known manner by the proper connection within lead 20.
While the elements shown and described are Well adapted to serve the purposes for which they are intended, it is to be understood that the invention is not limited to the precise construction set forth, but includes within its purview such changes as may be made within the scope of the appended claims.
Having described my claim is:
1. The herein described apparatus for cooling air comprising a series of electrical conductors each composed of two dissimilar metals, the ends of which are joined together, and the junctures of whiclrare enlarged, the said enlarged junctures being disposed in staggered relation, a conduit in which said conductors are disposed, and means for forcing air through said conduit.
2. An apparatus of the character deinvention, what I creating element arranged to scribed, comprising a Conduit, an air current creating element arranged to force air through said conduit, a plurality of conductor carrying elements arranged in said conduit, and a pluralty of electrical conductors spanning each of the conductor carrying elements, each of said conductors being composed of two dissimilar metals,

An apparatus of the character. described, comprising a conduit, an air current creating element arranged to force; air through said conduit, a plurality of conductor carrying elements arranged in said conduit, a plurality of electrical conductors spanning each of the conductor carrying elements, each of said-conductors being composed of two dissimilar metals, the junctures of said metals being arranged in horizontal rows.
4. An apparatus of the character described, comprising a conduit, an air current force air through said conduit, a plurality of conductor carrying elements arranged in said conduit, a plurality of electrical conductors spanning each of the conductor carrying elements, each of said conductors being com-- posed of two dissimilar metals, the junctures of said metals bein' arranged in horizontal" rows, and the row 0 junctures of each set of conductors being disposed at a different height within said conduit, from any other row;
5. In a device of the character described the combination with a conduit, of meansfor forcing a current ofair therethrough, a plurality of rings disposed within said conduit, a plurality of vertical conductors carried by each of said rings, each of said conductors comprising two dissimilar metals, having their junctures arranged in horizontal alinement, a common conductor to which all of the said conductors are connected at one end, a second common conductor, to
which all of said conductors are connected .at the opposite end, binding members traversing the Wall of said conduit to make an electrical contact with said conductors, and an electriccircuit of vwhich all of said binding members form a part.
