Description

LA. EARLEY; ATTACHMENT FOR POWDER MACHINES.
APPLICATION FILED SEPT-F1, 1915- Patented July 25, 1916.
- of a powder molding machine.
JAMES A. HARLEY, 0F WILMINGTON, DELAWARE.
ATTACHMENT F03 POWDER-MACHINES.
Specificati oters Patent. Patented July 25,1916.
Application filed September 21; 1915. Serial No. 51,353.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JAMES A. EARLEY, a citizen of the United States, residing .at
Wilmington, in the county of New Castle,
State of Delaware, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Attachments for Powder-Machines; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to improvements in attachments for powder machines.
One object of the invention is to provide 'a novel distributerfor the streams of the plastic mass which is forced from the dies. 1
Another object is to provide a device for attachment to a powder molding machine which will effectively distribute the streams of powder into various receptacles disposed to receive the material.
A further object is to provide means for preserving theeven temperature of the dis:
tributer so that the streams of powder will not adhere to the discharge spouts and tubes.
Other objects and advantages will be ap: parent from the following description when taken in connection with the accompanying drawing.
In the drawing: Figure 1 is an elevation of my distributor; Fig. 2 is a top plan view; Fig. 3 is a vertical section on the line 3-3 of Fig.1; Fig. 4 is a horizontalsection on the line 4-4 of Fig. 1; Fig. 5 is a horizontal fiepteu o1? tntn patent may be attained m and outwardly extending pipes 20.
' put in its place.
wardly and outwardly between the openings of the top and bottom plates are a plurality of downwardly flaring tubes 15. Secured to the lower face of the plate 13 is the perforated top plate 16' of a casing 16, the upper plate of said casing being circular while the lower plate is rectangular, said upper and lower plates being connected by theinclined wall 17.
Inthe bottom plate 18 of the casing 16 are a plurality of openings 19, and connecting these openings with the openings 14 of the plate 13 are a plurality of downwargly' epending from the lower ends of these pipes 20 are a plurality of discharge spouts 21 from which the powder issues in streams and is collected in receptacles disposed therebeneath. It will be understood thatwhen 1 one receptacle is filled the stream of powder can be cut oil with a suitable instrument, the receptacle removed and an empty receptacle Extending into the distributer, and among the pipes 20 is a steam pipe 22 which keeps the distributer atan even temperature so that the streams of powder passing through the pipes will not stick to the sides of the pipes.
What is claimed is:
An attachment for a powder machine comprising a truncated cone-shaped casing detachably secured to the discharge portion of the machine, a second casing securedbelow the bottom of the first casing, the top of the second casing being circular in plan while the bottom isrectangular in plan, a plurality of powder passage pipes extending through both of the said casings in downwardly and outwardly inclined directions,
nozzles carried by the lower ends of the j pipes, and a heat. conductor extending through the casings. r
In testimony whereof, I affix my signature, in the presence of two witnesses.
J S A. EARLEY.
Witnesses:
