THEODOR HLUBUEK, 0F CEDAR RAPIDS, IOWA.
`@ARMENT-AIRJVI-STEAVMIING DEVICE.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, TnEoDoR HLUBUEK, a citizen of the United States, residing at Cedar Rapids, in the county ofv Linn and State of Iowa, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Garment-Arm- Steaming Devices, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in garment arm steaming devices.
The'primary object of the invention -is the provision of a steaming form for the arms of garments, the device being provided as a removable attachment to a steaming form for body garments.
A further object of thea-.device is the provision of a garment steaming form having perforated arm forms removably attached to the shoulder portions thereof by a HeXible connection, a supply of steam being admitted thereto controllable by the operator.
A still further object of the device is the provision of a garment steaming form having steam-conducting means to different parts thereof and provided with arm forms rotatively and flexibly mounted upon entrance nozzles projecting from the shoulder portions of the main form.
With these general objects in view and others that will appear as thenature of the invention is better understood, the same consists in the novel combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter more fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings, and pointed out in the appended claims.
In the drawings forming a part of this application and in which like-designating characters refer to corresponding parts throughout the several viewsz-Figure 1 is a front elevation of a garment steaming form provided with the present device and partially broken away. Fig. 2 is an enlarged vertical sectional view of a portion thereof taken through the arm connection of the device, and Fig. 3 is a view of the attaching end portion of the arm form detached.
It will be first understood that the present invention relates primarily to armV attachments for garment steaming forms, and that such forms may be arranged as herein illustrated and comprising the hollow metallic .body 10 having steam outlet perforations 11 therethrough and provided with a Speciication of Letters Patent.
' 14 thereof as controlled by the Patented July 25, 1916.
Application led October 7, 1915. Serial No. 54,553.
plurality of fabric layers 12 over which the garment to be steamed is deposited, while a steam supply pipe 13 is arranged within the form for admitting steam through openings valve 15. -The invention provides an auxiliary steam pipe. 16 connected to the union 17 and eX- tendmg inwardly of the form casing 10 and provided with a cross pipe 18 upon its upper end, which pipe 18 has its opposite ends 19 arranged in the form of nozzles threaded through openings 20 in the arm disks or portlons 21 of the said body 10. A set nut 22 1s provided upon the pipe 18 adjacent each of its opposite ends and adapted to bear against the disk 21 for rigidly mounting thecross pipe 18 in permanent position.
Arm forms are arranged for removable attachment with the nozzles 19, the same comprising perforated metallic elongated substantially arm-shaped casings 23 of slightly flattened form and provided with a fabric layer or covering 24. A rubber disk 25 is secured to the inwardly extending iange 26 of the attaching end of the casing 23 by means of rivets 27, while a tapered hub 28 is centrally carried by the said disk 25 being revolubly mounted therein as illustrated in Fig. 2 of the drawings and allowing a rotation ofthe arm form relatively of the said hub. The nozzles 19 have slightly tapered outer surfaces for allowing the hubs '28 to be removably positioned thereover when desired to attach arm forms to the body form and the disks 25 by reason of their flexibility allow the arm forms to have a limited lateral motion assisting the operator in Working upon the garment with which the form is provided.
From this detailed description of the device, it will be seen that a garment may be positioned upon the form and steam allowed to enter the same rby opening the supply valve 15. The arm forms are then allowed to receive steam through the nozzles 19 as controlled by the valve 29 ofthe auX- iliary steam pipe 16. The steam entering the casings 23 passes through the perforations 30 thereof and thence through the covering 24 for engaging the arms of the garments and cleaning the same by forcibly passing therethrough. Garment arm portions may be individually cleaned by placing the same upon the present arm forms which forms may be detached from the nozzles 19 for that purpose and then appliedthereto When desired. Upon the oompletion of the steaming operation, the valve 29 may be closed and the arm form readily removed from thersteam pipe nozzle.
While the form of the invention'herein shown and described is vWhat is believed to be the preferred embodiment thereof, it is nevertheless to be understood that minor changes may be made therein Without 'departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as claimed.
What I claim as new is l. A garment form comprising in combination with, a main steaming body, a steam pipe positioned therein, nozzles at the opposite ends of the said pipe projecting outwardly of the arm portions thereof, arm forms comprising slightly flattened casings provided with perforations therethrough and each having an annular flange at one end thereof, a covering for the said casings, a flexible disk secured to the said flange, and
, a tapered hub carried by the said disk inwardly of the said casing and removably positioned upon the said nozzle.
2. In combination with a steam form having arm portions, steam nozzles projecting through the said portions, and arm forms flexibly and removably positioned upon the said nozzles.
3. A garment steaming device comprising a main body having opposite arm portions, a steam pipe positioned within the said body, a cross pipe carried by the upper end of the said steam pipe and having its opposite endsfscreW-threaded through the said arm portions and projecting outwardly thereof, set nuts upon the said crosspipe in engagement with the said portions, and
arm steaming'forms removably and flexibly attached to the outer projecting ends of the said cross pipe.
4:. garment steaming device comprising a ma1n body having opposite arm portions, a steam pipe positioned within the said body, a` cross pipecarried by the upper end of the said steam pipe and having its opposite ends screw-threaded through the said arm portions and projecting outwardly thereof, set nuts upon the said cross-pipe in engagement with the said portions, and arm forms comprising perforated elongated slightly flattened casings having annular flanges at one end thereof, flexible disks carried by the said flanges, and tapered hubs centrally carried by the said disks removably positioned upon the said nozzles.
5. A garment steaming device comprising a main body having opposite arm portions, a steam pipe positioned within the said body, a cross pipe carried by the upper end of the said steam pipe and having its opposite-ends screw-threaded through the said arm portions and projecting outwardly thereof, set nuts upon the said cross-pipe in engagement with the said portions, armv forms comprising perforated elongated slightly flattened casings having annular flanges at one end thereof, flexible disks carried by the said flanges, tapered hubs centrally journaled in the said disks', and
removably positioned upon the said nozzles,
and a fabric covermg for said casings.
In testimony whereof I afliX my signature.
THEoDoR HLUBUCEK.
