To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, EDWARD A. RUPERT, a citizen of the United States, residing at Aberdeen, in the county of Grays Harbor and State of Washington, have invented a new and useful Look, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to looks especially designed for use in connection with film boxes, although it is to be understood that the same can also be used to advantage in connection with different kinds of cases.
One of the objects of the invention is to provide means whereby it becomes impossible to open more than one door in a box or casing at one time, the opening of one door operating to prevent the unlocking of the other door or doors of the box or case so that before another door can be opened, it is necessary to have all of the doors closed.
With the foregoing and other objects in view which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in the combination and arrangement of parts and in the details of construction hereinafter described and claimed, it being understood that changes in the precise embodiment of the invention herein disclosed, can be made within the scope of what is claimed, without departing from the spirit of the invention.

Referring to the figures by characters of reference 1 designates a box or casing which, in the present instance, has two sliding doors indicated at 2 and 3 respectively. Each door has a rearwardly extending lip 4: at its lower and a apted, when the door is,
'closed,'to press upwardly against or close tothe bottom of the case, as shown for ex-' ample in Fig. 4. Arranged in the bottom portionof the case isa solenoid 5 the armature 6 of which is normally pressed outwardly by a spring 7, this armature being guided within a. forwardly projecting tubular core 8 which extends close to the path of the door to be fastened. The armature 6 has a locking bolt 9 connected thereto, said bolt having an enlargement 1O guided within the projecting tubular portion 8, the outer end of the bolt being normally pressed by spring 7 against the back face of the door to be secured. The door has a recess 11 in the lower portion thereof adapted to receive the projecting end of bolt 9 when the door isin closed position, so that the'door is thus secured against opening. The solenoid is provided with normally spaced spring contact strips 12'and 13, the strip 13 having a button 14 projecting downwardly therefrom beyond the bottom of the case or box 1 so that, when the door is moved upwardly to closed position, the lip 4L thereon will press against the contact strip 12, thus completing the circuit to push buttons 15 .so that when either or any of these buttons are pressed, the circuit will be closed through its respective solenoid, attracting the armature and unlocking the door.
Arranged above each of the doors within the case or box 1 is a push button 15.
The arrangement of the wiring used in connection with the locking apparatus has been shown diagrammatically in Fig. 5. It 'will be seen that the contact strip 13 of one solenoid is connected by a wire 16 to the source of energy indicated at 17, while the contact 12 of said solenoid is electrically connected to the contact 13 of the next Copies of this patent ma be obtained for possible to energize either solenoiduntil the opened door has been closed, thus to close the circuit through its contacts 12 and 13.
Obviously by providing a plurality of doors, the same arrangement may be carried out, it merely being necessary to arrange the contacts 12 and 13 in series as shown in Fig. 5 so that by the breaking of the electrical connections between any two of the contacts,
all of the solenoids are rendered inactive.
As before pointed out, while the improvements herein described are especially useful in connection with film boxes, they can be used in connection with any kind of filing cases and the like.
What is claimed is The combination with a case having separate doors, magnets adjacent the doors, a source of electricalenergy, and means controlled by each door, when closed, for maintaining the electrical connections between said magnets and the source of electrical energy, of buttons for completing the circuits through the respective magnets when the doors are closed, and door engaging bolts movable with and projecting beyond the end of the armature of each magnet, said bolts being normally projected to door engaging positions.
2. The combination with a case having separate doors, a magnet adjacent each door,
and a door engaging bolt movable withand projecting beyond the end of the armature of each magnet, of a source of energy, separate pairs of contacts disposed in series in the circuit with the magnets and source of energy, a circuit closer for each magnet, and means upon each door for closing the contact of its respective pair of contacts to maintain the circuits closed through said contacts when the doors are closed.
3. The combination with a case having a plurality of doors, of a magnet for each door, a bolt movable with and projecting beyond the end of the armature of each magnet, means for holding the bolt normally pressed into engagement with the respective doors, a source of electrical energy in circuitwith the magnets, normally open circuit closers provided for the respective magnets, and separate pairs of contacts in circuit with the magnets and normally held together by the doors when closed, said contacts being adapted to break the circuits to all of the magnets when one of the doors is opened.

The combination with a case and doors movably connected thereto, of a magnet adjacent each door, a locking bolt movable with and projecting beyond the end of the armatiire of each magnet, yielding means for holding each bolt normally in engagement with the adjacent door, a source of electrical energy in circuit with the'magnets, a separate pair of contacts adjacent each door, one of'said contacts being yieldingly supported normally out of engagement with the other contact of the pair, means upon each door for engaging the adjacent yieldingly supported contact to hold it against the'opposed contact when the door is closed, anda normally open circuit closer for each magnet adjacent to the door controlled by the magnet.
