CONTROLLING nEvic'E FORVFLUID-PUMPS IN INTERNAL Q,OMBUSTION ENGINES.
Application filed October 20, 1913. Serial No. 796,246.
T all whom it may concern:
Be-it known that I, E x ANTON RUND- nor, a subject of the King of :Sweden, .re-
siding at'Stocksund, in the Kingdom of Sweden, have invented-new and usefulImprovements gines, of which the following is a specification, reference. being had to 'thedrawing accompanying and formingpart hereof.
My invention relates "to" controlling devices; for fluid pumps intended for=internal combfustion enginesflof the class in which the pump-piston or pistons is or are actuated by a reciprocating member.
The object ofthe invention is to effect "control of the stroke of the pump.
The inventionis mainly characterized by this that-b'etween the reciprocating part and the piston or pistons-is placeda member against which 'th e.pis'ton orpistons press,
the said member, in order to effect control .of the stroke of the pump, being movable;
' Inthe accompanying drawinga constructional form of the inventionis illustrated.
'1 designatesfthe pump cylinder provided with the suction conduit 2 and the pressure conduit 3, i is the pump piston moved outward by' a spring 550 as to press against one arm 6 of a bell'crank lever 6, 10-fulcrumedon a pivot 9 or the like, 7 is the reciprocating member supported by the sliding plane 8. The arm 10 of the bell crank lever rests against an'eccentric 11 journaled in a. stationary part of the pump construc- Speciflcation 0! Letters Patent.

tion and to the shaft. 12 ofwhich at-- tached an arm 13' connected to a rod '14:.
Upon turning of the eccentric 11- the bell crank lever swings and causes the piston actuated by the spring 5 to move outward to a greater or smaller extent, so that the stroke of the pump accordingly becomes longer or shorter. The arm 6 pressing against the piston t will 'by. the memi ber 7. Said member 7 operates as a hit or miss controller, forinstance by, sliding on a plane 8 provided with a slanting part, in'
which case the member, 7, owing to" said slanting part, hits .or misses thear'mlfi .providedfor this purpose with an aperture 15 .into which the member 7 in the last named case can enter..
The eccentric 11 need not necessarily be' rotatable always but may be fastenedin certain adjusted positions by means of nuts or in some other suitable manner.
I claim: I v In afliud pump for internal combustion engines, the combination of a reciprocating I pump piston, a hit or miss device actuating said piston, a bell crank lever one arm of which is located between the pistonand the hit or miss device,,and an eccentric actuat ing the other arm of said lever, substantiall y as and for the purpose set forth.-
