Be it known that I, JONAS NoRTHnor, a citizen of the United States, residing at Hopedale, in the county of Worcester and Stifte of Massachusetts, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Mislhreading Devices for Weft-ilcplenishing Looms; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such es will enable others skilled in the crt to which it uppertains to make end use the same.
The present invention relates. to an irnprovement in misthreuding devices for automatic weft replcnishing looms.
Automatic weft replenishing looms 'as ordinarily constructed are provided at one side of the loom with weft roplenishing mechanism and on the opposite side of the loom with wett or filling detectingr mechanism. TFi/"hen the lilling in the active shuttle becomes exhausted or broken, absence of filling is indicated by the detecting mechanism on the next detecting heilt of the lay, and on the following or non-detecting beat of the lay e fresh supply 0f filling is inserted into the shuttle. Should the filling break during its insertion into the shuttle, there occurs what is technically known as u hopper misthread, and on the first shot of the shuttle away from the weft replenishvingr mechanism no filling is laid in the shed.
Should severalv hopper misthreads voccur in succession they would greatly impair the quality of the cloth Woven.' Three successive hopper misthreads, however, do not impair the qunlity of ordinary cloth.
It during the operation of the weft replenishing mechanism the fillingr thread should `fail to enter the shuttle eye there occurs What is technically known as a real misthread, and on the first shot of the shuttle away from the weft replenishing side of the loom an intact filling is laid in the shed, so that on the next detectingbcat of the lay filling presence is indicated by the detecting mechanism. On the return shot of the shuttle to the weft replenishin'g side of the loom the filling breaks, but lling presence having been indicatedA onthe preceding,T detecting'beat the weft eplenlshingH mechanism is not-"set iny operationfand the 'shuttle with its broken thread is picked to the detecting side ot the loom and is again returned to the weft replenishing side of the loom before a fresh supply of filling is inserted into the shuttle. It is obvious, therefore, that the occurrence of a single real misthread impairs the quality of the cloth` Woven more seriously than the occurrence of single hopper misthread.
It has been proposed heretofore t provide looms Withmisthreading devices opersting tol cause 13ml) stoppage on the occurrence of three successive hopper misthreads and also on the occurrene'eoftesingle real misthread, but these devices have what complicated in construction.
The object of the present invention, therefore, is to produce a misthreadinp'I device of improved and simplified construction which will operate with certainty to cause loom stoppage on the occurrence of three successive hopper niisthreads, on the occurrence of. a single real xnisthread, and on the occurrence of a real. xnisthread preceded either by a single or by a double hopper misthread.
