My invention relates to car tri'icks -and `has for its object to improve the same in the several particulars hereinafter noted.
. Generally stated, the invention consists of the novel devices andcombinations of devices vhereinafter described and defined in the claims.

The truck springs 6 are seated in pockets 2, and it is important to note that Withs-the orrangemen't described, the lower ends of the said springs are brought downbelow the bottoms of the cross ties, thereby making possible the'use oi 4very high or lon truck springs, lwhich are much in deman at the present time, without lowering1 the cross ties, and without increasing the` hei lit of the bolster and side frames. On their iipper surfaces, the said combined springl caps and roller bases 7 are concave, or self-centering roller seats 9, on which lateral motion rollers 10 are seated.
The truck bolster l1 1s preferably ol a 'II cast steel structure, and, at the under siirface of its end portions, it is provided with roller seats 12 that rest upon the rollers 10. T he truck' bolster is thus mounted forv lim.- ited endivise movements, transversely of the truck. To limit the endwise movements o1E the saidbolstcr, transversely of Athe truck, it is provided with integrally cast or formed stop lugs 13 that are arranged to engage the inner edges of the. combined spring caps and roller bases 7. T he endwise move ments of the truck bolster are, therefore, limited by the combined spring caps and roller bases, the latter beingfheld against horizontal movements,
with the bolster columns of the truek side frames.
In asseinbling the parts oa truck, the holster is lfirst pushed through the side frames. This can be done because' there are no stops on the sides of the bolster, and because the stops 13 do notL engage with the bolster columns of the truck sideframes. When the bolster is properly centered in rergoeet to track, it is raised op,

The combined spring caps and roller bases are then lifted up and the springs are'then applied, and then the combined spring caps and roller bases are pressed down upon the springs and the .ollers are applied.
By securing the cross ties to thelinside of the frame, as described, th'ey are ,kept
high enough to permit all of the braking levers and cooperating parts to Work free at a good height above the rails., I give sufficient riveting space for the cross ties, by the use of gusset plates attached to the full width of the inside bracket ror flange 3 and extending* back to rece/ive about three inwardly projecting cross tie brackets raised above the `bottoms of said pockets, gusset plates riveted to said brackets above the bottoms of said pockets, and a flanged cross tie having,r its ends riveted to said gusset plates and to said brackets and located entirely above the bottoms of said pockets.
2.-l In' a car truck, truck ,side frames having bolster` openings and provided with bottom tension members formed with central webs and with spring:r seating pockets located both in the inner and outer sides of said central web, and inside pockets having angular cross tie brackets raised above the bottoms thereof, and angle cross ties riveted to said brackets and located entirely above the bottoms of said pockets.

In a car truck, the combination with truck side frames having bolster openings and spring seats, of springs on said seats, spring caps 4o said springs `guided for ver tical movennts bysaid side frames, but held thene' y against lateral movements, lateral /otion' devices on said spring caps, and a/ ruck bolster mounted on said lateral m ion devices and provided with integ";;l depending stop ln's engageable with said springr caps to limit the movements of said bolster transversely of the truck.
