The lower end of the container 29 is disposed in the boss 51 of a frame 52 secured in place in anysuitable manner such as by being attached .to the front wall 2. The rear side of the lower end of the tube 29 is provided with a vdownwardly extending .ngerv53, serving to guide tlife iistcon and thus assure the proper positioning of the succeedingcoins.
Below the forward portion of the frame 52 and to the front wall 2 is secured a block 54 in a slot in which is fulcrumed the hook lever 55, the hook endv 56 of which normally frame 8 and again join one another in the portion 60 which is connected to the post l61 on the gage 62, which gage slide is reciprocally mounted in a passage formed by slot 63 above the reading opening 64, the slot 65 above the large coin opening 3 and the recess 66 just below the opening 3.
Slidably mounted on the block 54 there is provided a coin-sorter 67 comprising substantially a boX open at its front end, having a slot 68 in the middle. portion of the front end of its upper member 69, which slot 68 is provided to pass around the lower link .portion 57 therebyvnot to interfere with the same. Rearwardly of this slot 68 and spaced apart therefrom, there is provided a round opening 70 having a beveled edge, with its pointed end terminating in the plane 0f the lower surface of the wall memer 69, and communicating with the round opening 7,0 and extending rearwardly therefrom there is provided a slot 71 extending almost to the rear of the upper wall member 69, said slot71 being provided to permit passage of the wall member 69 about the downwardly extending finger 53. It is obvious that various changes and modifications may be made to the details of construction without departing from the general spirit of the invention.

1. In combination with a-vending mechanism, of a change-giving appliance having a container for coins to be delivered as change, a' change-giving mechanism mounted near the delivery* end of said container,

In combination with a vending mechanism, of a change-giving appliance having a container for coins to be delivered as change, a delivery end at the lower end of said container, supporting means disposed of said container for normally supporting the coins contained therein, means disposed a distance removed from lower end of said container cqual`to the aggregate thickness of the number of coins to be delivered as change and adapted to operate in'a path of movement obstructed by the coin disposed above such number of coins, said means, when actuated, displacingsuch obstructed coin and thereby sepa rating out the coins to be delivered as change, and means for removing said supporting means when-said separated coins are to bedelivered as change.
3. In combination with a vending mecha? nism, a change-giving appliance having a frame, a coin receiving chute suitably atlarge and small coins, a driving slide and a driven slide to receive between them the coin de posited, actuating means for said vending lmechanism connected to said driven slide, a
lever ulcrumed near its middle in said frame, a link connectingsaid driving slide with the upper end of said lever, a change giving mechanismoperatively connected with the lower end of said lever, and a push rod pivotally connecte-d to said lever so as to move said driving slide to move the coin between it and the driven slide, by means of which driven slide the actuating means for the vending mechanism is operated, and simultaneously therewith to operate the change-giving mechanism.
