ALBERT GARY, OF NORWICH, NEW YORK, ASSIGNOR TO B. F. LITTLE AND R. B. PRINDLE, OF SAME PLACE.
IMPROVEMENT IN WASH-STAND BRACKETS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 118,341, dated August 22, 1 871.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ALBERT GARY, of Norwich, in the county of Ghenango and in the State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Bureau-Brackets; and do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawing making a part of this specification, in which--- Figure 1 is a perspective View of a bureau wash-stand with my in'iproved bracket attached, and Fig. 2 is a like view of the bracket detached and enlarged.
Letters of like name and kind refer to like parts in each of the figures.
As ordinarily constructed, the brackets used for supporting the roller attached upon each end of a Wash-stand are constructed of or from wood, and, from their form, are weak and easily broken, besides being quite expensive.
To obviate these objections and provide an article that is quickly and easily applied is the object of my invention, which consists of a bracket constructed of metal, in the manner hereinafter specified.
In the annexed drawing, A represents a washstand of usual construction, having upon each end a roller, B, upon which to suspend towels. The rear end of the roller is secured to or within the extended end of the back strip 0, while its front end is supported by means of a bracket,
D, constructed of metal, in the form shown, and attached to the end of the stand by two lugs, 01, through which suitable wood screws are passed into said end. A boss, E, corresponding in exterior size and shape to the end of the roller, is secured to and projects rearward from the upper end of said bracket, and, being provided with a central longitudinal opening, 0, receives the end of said roller, the same being reduced in size suffieiently to enable it to enter said opening.
As these brackets are preferably constructed of cast metal, any desired form or exterior style may be given them without increasing their cost.
The advantages possessed by this device are that it can be produced at a much less cost, is more ornamental, stronger, more durable, and can be applied in less time than those ordinarily used.
Having thus fully set forth the nature and merits of my invention, what I claim as new is As an article of manufacture, the hereinbeforedescribed bracket, constructed of metal, in the form shown and for the purpose specified.
