Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented May 9, 1916.
Application led May 11, 1914. Serial N o. 837,815.
To all 107mm t may concern Be it known that I, JOHNEY I-IAYNns, a citizen of the United States, residing at Tamaha, in the county of Haskell, State of Oklahoma, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Folding Vashstands; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled `in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to improvements in toilet cabinets, and particularly to portable cabinets for use in performing ablutions.
The principal object of the invention is to provide a simple device of this character which can be hung on the wall in a convenient place, and which can be quickly and easily folded when the same is to be removed or when not in use.
Other objects and advantages will be apparent from the following description, when taken in connection with the accompanying drawings.
In the drawings: Figure 1 is a front elevation of the device. Fig. 2 is a side elevation showing the device in folded position. Fig. 3 is a side elevation showing the device in extended position. Fig. 4 is a horizontal sectional view on the line 4 4 of Fig. 3.
Referring particularly to the accompanying drawings, 10 represents a back member which may be formed of any suitable material, said member being provided with suitable means 11 for suspending the same from a nail or hook on the wall. Secured at its lower end to the ylower end of the back member is a flat spring 12, a rigid member 13 being secured to the upper end thereof and extending upwardly therefrom. Hinged on the upper end of the member 13 is a block 14 which carries a plurality of clamps 15 f for holding the wash basin 16 thereon. Pivoted to the outer edge of the block 141 is a hook 17 which is arranged to engage with an eye or loop 18 carried by the member 13 a suitable distance below the upper end thereof. This hook when in engagement with the eye, will hold the'block lll'in proper position, so that the basin can be readily used. `Movably connected to the back member 10 adjacent the upper end of the member 13 is a b ar 19, this bar having a notch 20 in the side adjacent the member 13 and arranged to be extended horizontally away from the back member and engaged with the member 13 below a shoulder 21 formed on the said member 13.
In the normal position of the parts the member 19 hangs straight down against the back and the member 13 held against the back by the spring 12. The hook is disengaged from the eye so that the block 14: can be folded down to present the open portion of the basin against the back. No means are necessary to hold the member 13 against the back, as the spring will hold the same in such position and return it after use when the member 19 is disengaged therefrom.
Detachably secured to the bottom of the basin and extending through the block 14 is a rubber hose 26 which carries the water from the basin, the other end being disposed at a suitable point to discharge the water as through a hole in the floor of the room.
What is claimed is:
In a toilet cabinet, a back member, a leaf spring secured at its lower end to the back member and extending vertically thereon, a member mounted on the upper end of the spring, a block movably connected to the upper end ofthe last named member, basin clamping means carried by the block, an eye on the member, a pivoted hook carried by the block for engagement with the said eye to support the block in horizontal position, and a spacing and bracing member pivotally connected to the back and arranged to be extended into horizontal position `said bracing member having a shoulder for engagement with the spring carried member. f In testimony whereof, I aiix my signature, in the presence of two witnesses.
