which the following is aspeoification. v
The present invention relates to molding apparatus for concrete and analogous tiles,
and one of the primaryobjects is to, provide a relatively simple structure, by means of which tiles and the like can be quickly and accurately formed, and can be removed, without danger of injury and breakage.
The preferred embodiment of the inven tion is illustrated in the, accompanying drawings, wherein Figure 1 is a longitudinal sectional view I through the preferred embodiment of the invention. Fig. 2 is a plan view of the same. Fig. 3 is a cross sectional view. Fig. 4c is a side elevation. Fig. 5 isan end elevation. Fig. 6 is a detail perspective view of one of the mold-side walls.
Similar reference numerals designate cor responding parts in all the figures of the drawings.
In the embodiment illustrated, a supporting frame is employed. This frame includes side bars 7 connected by cross bars 8 and supported on legs or standards 9, which are suitably braced, 'as shown at 10. The side bars 7 between the cross bars 8 have their outer sides upwardly and inwardly beveled, as illustrated at 11, so that the material which falls thereon will drop therefrom and not accumulate.
Arranged within the box formed by the side bars 7 and cross bars 8, is a mold, and this mold consists of side walls 12 that rest against the inner faces of the side bars 7 and have terminal extensions 13 which rest upon the cross bars 8 and thus support said side walls. End walls 14 are located between the side walls and serve to hold them in properly spaced relation. These end walls are located against the inner faces of the cross bars 8 and are secured thereto by screws 15 or other suitable fasteners. The side walls 12 have cars 16 cut therefrom, and turned inwardly and through these ears are adjustably threaded screws 17, which con-' stitute supports for the pallet, one of which is shown in place and indicated at 18. Said pallet fits between the end and side walls and is of any desired form.

For the purpose of shaping and finishing the upper surface of the tile, a finishing bar 19 is slidably mounted on the structure and is capable of being reciprocated back and forth over the mold, its under face being shaped to the desired form of the tile.
This shaping bar has terminal handles 20, by means of which it is manually moved and is furthermore provided with depend ing guides 21 extending down sufficiently arena ormon far to engage the outer lower portion of the side bars 11. In order to prevent the wabbling of this finishing bar, it has connected to its center a rearwardly extending guide bar 22 which operates betw'eena pair of upstanding guide fingers 23 carried by a cross piece 2% on the frame. This guiding means, however, permits one end of the finishing bar to be raised andlowered with respect to the other, but holds the bar at right angles to its line of movement.
For the purpose of removing the pallets with the finished tiles thereon from the mold, a hand lever 25 is employed, comprising a bar that is doubled to form spaced side arms, each side arm being fulcrumed at its rear end, as shown at 26 to one of the side bars 7. The connection between the side bars 7 constitutes a handle 28. The side arms are connected between their ends by upstanding U-shaped yokes 29 that are arample, the molds and finishing device may have different conformations to make differenttypes of tile, as for instance, the body tile for the roof, ridge roll, and the like.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
1. In a machine of the character set forth,
a supporting frame comprising angularly disposed bars, a mold therein comprising side walls located alongside certain of the frame bars and having terminal extensions resting on the other frame bars, and transverse Walls located between the side Walls.
2. In a machine of the character set forth, a supporting frame, comprising angularly disposed bars, a mold therein comprising side Walls located alongside certainof the frame bars and having reduced terminal extensions resting on the other frame bars, transverse Walls located against said frame bars and between the side Walls, and fastening devices securing the transverse walls to the bars alongside Which they are located.
3. In a machine of the character'set forth, a frame, a mold located therein and comprising angularly disposed Walls, certain of said Walls having inset integral ears, and pallet supporting devices adjustably mounted in said ears. 7.
4. In a machine of the character set forth, a frame, a mold located therein and comprising angularly disposed Walls, and palletsupporting means in said mold, including ears integral With and inset from the mold Walls.
5. In a machine of the character set forth,
a supporting frame including side and cross end to the frame and having a hand grip at its front end, and spaced upstanding palletengaging yokes having downturned ends connected to the lever, the intermediate portions of said yokes moving in a path to raise and elevate the pallet placedin the'mold.
