T 0 all whom it may concern Belt known that I, citizen of the United States, residing at Oberlin, in the county of Lorain and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and use object of the invention is to provide a generally improved heel plate of this class adapted to level the heel when worn and with this end in view is of such shape and contour as to enable it to fit or fill in the partially -worn heel. as well as conform to the shape of the heel in reestablishing the original shape and retarding further wear.
it. still further ob ect is to provide a heel plate of such form asto give the added wear as. well as to reduce the liability of disarrangement or detachment to a minimum while in service.
. With the above-mentioned ends in view,
the invention consists in the novel construction, arrangemenh-and combination of parts, hereinafter described, illustrated in one of its embodiments in the accompanying drawings and particularly pointed out in the appended claims.
Referring to the drawings, forming a part of this specification Figure 1., is a View of a shoe equipped with a heel plate constructed in accordance with my invention.
A Fig. 2, a bottom view of the shoe having the improved heel plate applied thereto. Fig. a top plan view ofthe improved heel plate detached. Fig. a similar view of the under or wear side of the plate detached. Fig; 5, an outer edge view of the same. Fig. 6. a cross sectional. view taken on line 6-$ ofFig. 4.- Fig. T. a full sized rear view of a heel having the improved heel plate detached.

Similar numerals of reference designate like parts throughout all the figures bf the drawings.
The improved heel plate comprises a flat base portion 1, having a curved or convex shaped inwardly beveled outer portion. 1 following the outline or contour of the heel, and as a means of fitting the plate to the partially worn heel the plate is provided with a curved or concaved top portion 1".-to receive and form a seat for the worn portion of the heel, said plate being of tapered or wedge shaped form from the outer beveled portion 1 to the inner'edge portion 1, as shown most clearly'in higsffi. and 6 of the drawings.
. It will be seen that the form of the improved heel plate is such as to conform to when the heel plate is secured in position it will level up the heel as shown in Figs.
1 and 7 of the drawings. As a means for securing the improved plate to the heel, the plate is provided with a plurality or series'of nail or screw re ceiving counter-sunk openings 2. arranged near the inwardly beveled outer portion 1, as shown, and it will also be observed that the curved or convex shaped beveled portion 1% conforms to and forms a continuation of the adjacent portions of the heel when the plate is in position and that the thickest portion of the plate occurs in that pprtion where most subjected to wear.
From the foregoing description. taken in connection with the accompanying drawings. the operation and advantages of my invention willbe readily understood.
Having thus described one of the embodiments of my invention, what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent. is
1. A 'heel plate having a curved undercut outer edge and a concaved top and a flat base extending therefrom forming a wedge shaped. plate terminating in a relatively thin straight inner edge.
2. A'heel plate having a curved inwardly flared outer edge and nail receiving opensaid curvedinwardly beveled. outer edgeforming a -\vedge shaped plate terminating a in a relatively thin straight inner edge portion.
3. A heel plate, having a curved inwardly beveled outer portion and provided with a concaved top and a fiat base extending from 10' said outer beveled portion and terminating in a relatively thin straight inner edge and -forming, a wedge shaped heel plate of substantial \vear receiving thickness adjaeent to said beveled outer portion.
in testimon whereof I have atlixed my signature in presence of two vitnesses.
