CARTER, a citizen oit the United States. residingJ at lllinneapolis, in the county ot Hennepin and State of iLlinnesota, have invented certain neiv and useful Improvements in Apparatus for Heating and 'leinperingn Grain, of which the following' is a s eciiicat-ion.
My invention relates to an apparatus for heating and tempering grain, and has tor its object to provide a mechanism for this purpose which shall he relatively compact, easily accessible and which will act upon the grain so as to heat rapidly and `uniformly all parts ot' the grain passing through the machine. To this end l provide a station ary, horizontal battery of heated pipes suiiioiently spaced one from another and securely held in such spaced position by means which will not obstruct the passage ot `grain through the machine. The grain is caused to pass over and over the pipes of this hattery by means oit a drum having' a series of bullies thereon which rotate about the battery i ot pipes continually, bringing the grain to the top oit .aid .battery and droppingl it upon the same, r i ch grain rattles through ing successive. pipes until it passes to the bottoni, ivhere it is again carried up and the operation repeated until the grain reaches the discharge opening4 at the forward er ,l of the drum.
