Description

vJOHN c. AYLI'NG, or SPRINGFIELD, ILLINOIS.
To allfwwht mdy'concerh: i
Be k1t` known that I, JOHN C. Amxe, citizenof the' United States, residing zut-,Spring-y ield, Ain the' county of Saiigarnonaiidv State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Kites, of which the following iaspeciication, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawing. y This'invetiontielates to kites and has for its principal.object theproduct'ion of a foldable kite which may be easily dis-assembled and folded'to a closed' position so asto oc',` cupy only a mininiuinainount of space when the same Vis not in use.
`Another/object of'this invention is the production "of akite wherein thecross stick is pivotally andslidably mounted Vupon the Vertical stick .sofas to be easily swung to an extended position when it is desired to set up the kite, orwhich maybe folded upward with the vertical or main kite is notin use. y
Another object of this invention is the production of. a kite wherein the sticks are. provided with cross. notches at their` .ends so as to receivethe seyeral cords which carry the paper or cloth wing or. face ofthe kites stick when the as well as the-beweerd and trimmingsfusedin connection therewith.
Withthese and other objects in View this invention consi'stsnof certain novel combi-` nations, constructions, and arrangements of partsas will behereinafter fully described and claimedyf.
In the accompanyingdrawings: Figure 1 i is a -front elevationotwthe kite asconstruct- "ed in accordance `with this invention. llig.

Fig. 7y is a horizontal'fraginental section through one end ofthe cross stick illustrat-- ing the. manner in which they cross stick is bowed rearwardly.` Fig. 8 isa detailed pei'- spective view of one end of the cross stick` illustrating the ,notches therein. Fig. 9 is KITE.

The cross stick `10Q-- y is carried by this sleeve l so as to-be pivotally and slidably mounted upon thelvertic'al 'i' i upright or inainstick 1, adjaeelitthe upperfj f' L portion thereof. This -eross stick 10 isialso lo provided with cross notches 1-1 and` .12 I
