lie it known that I, RomNsoN BUnT, a citizen of the United States, residing at Buffalo, in the county of Erie and State of New York7 have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Labeling-Machines, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the saine.
This invention relates to labeling niachines, and with respect to its more specific featuris to machines of the character referred to involving apparatus for folding flexible labels on boxes and adhesively securing the saine thereto.
(lne of the objects of the invention the provision of a practical device for automatically adhesively attaching paper labels or strips to boxes.
Another object of the invention is thc provision ot' an eflicient mechanism for adhesively attaching and folding labels or strips around sectional boxes, such as the small` relatively stiff paper boxes ordinarily employed for containing cigarettes, the parts ot' said box comprising a base and a cover.
Another object of the invention is the provision of practical and eilicient mechanism i'or adhesivel)y attaching labels or strips to boxes and causing said labels to present n smooth and neat appearance.
Still another object of the invention to apply a strip or label to a sectional hox across the `ioint thereof and securely adhesively aiiix the same theretoin order that it will serve as a hinge for thc cover and base.
Still another object is the provision of eiiicient mechanism for applying labels to boxes in awfurate, nedeterniined position relative thereto. andt0 accomplish such rcsult upon a plurality of boxes in a rapid manner.
Other objects will be in part obvious and in part pointed out hereinafter.
The invention accordingly consists in the features of construction, combinations of elements and arrangement of parts which will be exemplified in the construction hereinafter set forth, and the scope of thc application of which will he indicated in the following claims.

Adhesive supply device-#The bracket ortions 7 and 8 of the castings provide orizontal upper faces on which is secured a platform 44. A tank or pot 45 rests upon the platform 44 and is adapted to contain a suitable adhesive, such as glue. Rotatably mounted and so as to dip into the glue in the tank, is a relatively large glue supplying roller 46 contacting with a glue delivery roller 47 journaled in brackets on the sides of the tank, said rollers being so mounted as to provide for an efficient transfer of lue from the tank to the delivery roller 47. gis illustrated, the delivery roller is journaled in spring-pressed boxes in the brackets.
48 represents a roller which may be adjusted relative to the roller 46 by means of the screws 49 so yas to gage the thickness of the glue supplied to the delivery roller 47. Spaced standards 50 are disposed adjacent and to one side of the roller 4G and each standard is provided with a vertically arranged guideway or slot 51 engaged bythe sides of the reciprocatory frame 52 in the lower portion of which is journaled a glue transfer roller 53. The parts are so disposed that when the frame 52 reeiprocates the roller 53 will move into and out of contact with the roller 4T, the lattea yielding slightly to the contact of the roller o3, and thc niove- Inent of the applying roller 53 is accomplished through the instrumentality of a shaft 54 journaled in bearings on the standards li() and provided near each end with pinions 55 engaging racks 56 fixed to the frame 552. At one side of the shaft 54 is secured a gear 57 `in mesh `with teeth 58 of an adjustable rod 59 which latter is caused to reciprocate by a cani groove 60 engaging i roller 6l mounted on the rod 59. The canigroove 60 is formed in a disk secured to a eountershaft 63.

roller 46 is sleeved to the shaft 6G and is provided with a` clutch clcnient (iT adapted to coiiperate with the clutch element GS splined on the shaft GG, and to the end of the shaft (3G is secured a sprocket wheel till which may bc continuously drivcn by means of the sprocket chain T) and a .sprocket 7l on the niain shaft lil. The bom or article supply {lenire-#ln the present enibodinicnt it is designed to successively deliver labels from the label magazine and assemble them with boxes and preierably with small boxes comprising a cover and a` base, such as a cigarette box, and it will be convenient at this point to disclose some of the details of the box supply device. The box supply dcvicc is located at the front of the machine slightly above the table top where it may be conveniently reached.
The numeral indicates an inclined frame-piece at one side of the longitudinal central portion of the machine. one end of said piece being fastened closely adjacent the upper surface of the table top by a bracket 7G. a standard 77 assisting in the Isupport ot' said frame-piece. Pulleys T8 adjustably mounted at each end of the picco T5 serve to carry an endless conveyor belt 79. thc upper plier of which rests on the frainopicco between 'opstanding box-guiding flanges 80. Said flanges terminate short of the end of the belt supportingr part of said franie-picce and at this point is a laterally projecting supporting plate 81 extending` toward the longitudinal central linc of thc machine.
