r' this application is a spring'motor and one 10 object of'the present invention is to provide novel means for connecting the actuating spring operatively with the drive shaft.
Another object of the invention is to improve the construction of the drive shaft, its mounting and cooperating parts.
It is within'the scope of the disclosure to improve generally and to enhance the utility of devices of that type'to which the present invention appertains.

The invention comprisesa casing includ 'ing a tubular body 89 having a reduced neck 90mergi'ng into a transverse, diskelike head '91. Threaded as shown at 92 onto the'head 91 is a forward cap 93. A rear cap 94 is threaded as shown'rat 95 ontothetubular body 89.
The invention includes a drive shaft 96 -j ournaled ina bearing disk 97 located 'at the rear end of the neck 90, the drive shaft being journaled in the head 91. Longitudinal shifting-movement of the'drive shaft-96 is 'pr'evented'through the medium ofa collar andlset screw- 98 which cooperate with'the Specification of Letters Patent.

Noting Fig. 3 it will be observed that in the rear end of the drive shaft 96 there is formed a recess 99 receiving' for rotationthe reduced forward end 100 of a winding shaft101,-the rear end of which is squared as shown at 102. Threaded'into the squared end 102 of the winding shaft 101 is shown at 103 is a short stubshaft 104 having .an enlarged terminal head 105. A winding button 106 is journaled on the shaft 104 and is provided with a recess which receives .the head 105, the head 105 constituting means for holding the winding button 106 on I the stub-shaft 104. The winding button 106 is provided with a flange 107 to which is secured a pawl 108 coacting with a ratchet wheel1109 mounted on the squared portion 102 of the winding shaft 101. Mounted on the squared portion 102 of the winding shaft 101 and located within the rear cap 94 is a ratchet wheel 110, engageable by a back stop pawl 111 secured to the cap 94. v
I A. main beveled gear wheel 112 is journaled on the shaft 101 adjacent the forward end of the tubular body 89 and is held in place against transverse sliding movement by means of collars 114 on the shaft 101, the collars preferably being held in place by set screws. A helical spring 115 of any desired construction is located within the tubular body 89. One end of the spring 115 is attached to the main beveled gear wheel 112 and the other end of the spring is attached to the ratchet wheel 110 or to the shaft 101 as may be found expedient. A'beveled pinion 116 is secured to the rear end of the drive shaft 96 and is located adjacent the mainbeveled gear:wheel 112.' A stud 117 projects inwardly from the'neck 90. At this point it is to be observed that the neck 90 may have a threaded connection with the body 89 as shown at 90 in order to permit the setting up of the gear and clutch mechanisms to be described hereinafter. Held onthe stud 117 is a beveled pinion 118, the hub of which is indicated at 119. a
