of Derby, in the county of'NeW Haven and State of lQonneeticut, have made certain new and useful Improvements in Automatic Train-Stopping Devices, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to improvements in automatic train stopping d evices and it con sists in the combinations, arrangements, and constructions herein described and claimed.
.An object of my invention is to provide magnetic means for stopping a train in 'which there is no actual contact between the devices carried by the engine and those distributed4 along the track.
A further object of my invention is to provide a device ot' the type described in which the magnetic devices which are distributed along the track act upon an armature in such a manner as to release a weight, the release et the weight serving to actuate the throttle lever7 the brake lever, to 'blow the Whistle, or to actuate electrical mechanism lor the controlling ot the rector, in case electricity should be used 'instead of steam. Secured to the body G of the is a cao ing-'16 having at its lovver end a dash pot 17 having a small opening i8 for the escape of air. To 'the upper end of the frame i9 are connected the flexible cables 23, 2e and 25.` The former runs over an idler 26 and is connected with the throttle lever 27 which has the usual locking segment 28. The cable 24 passes over the idler 29 and is secured to the brake lever 30 which is acted on by a spring 3l. The cable 25 may extend to a whistle or to an electric switch (not shown) for operating these devices on the movement of the weight 20.
