. To all whomV t may concern l 1 Be it known that I, LEE R. DEHLER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Gary, in the county of Lake and State of Indiana, have invented new and useful Imn provements in Calf-Veaners, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to calf weaners andV the object of the invention is to provide a simple and efficient device of this character in which a slidably mounted pricking device inwardly into engagement with the calfs' nose.
Another object of the invention is to provide a device of this character having the shield plate so formed that it is impossible for the calf to nurse'upon the side.y
Further objects of the invention will appear as the following description is read in connection with the accompanying drawing, which forms a part of this application, and in which Figure l is a s'de elevation showing the device applied.- Fig. 2 is a front elevation. F ig. 3 is a rear elevation.
Referring more particularly to the drawing, l represents the body of the device whch is constructed of a single sheet of metal havingY its terminals bent inwardly to form side shields, as indicated at 2. Punched up from the center of the plate `is an arm 3 having an upwardly bent ear 4 apertured to receive the pricking plunger 5 which works in an aperture 6 formed in the body of the plate above the arm and has the inner end pointed and the opposite end headed so as to prevent hurting the cow and to form an abutment for a spring 7 located between the head and the ear 4.
