GONVEYER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Mar. 14, 1916.
Application filed August 3, 1914. Serial No. 54,756.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, AMos D. HERB, a citizen of the United States, residing at Lake Ballinger, in the county of Snohomish and State of WVashington, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Conveyors, of which the following is a specification.
,This' invention relates to a conveyer and the principal object of the invention is to provide an improved type of conveyer pipe which is so constructed that the passage of materials through the pipe will not be hindered by the hoods which close the openings through which the steam pipes enter the conveyer.
Another object of the invention is to so mount the drums and hand-hold covers that the same may be removed when desired.
This invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawings, wherein Figure 1 is a view in side elevation showing a conveyer constructed in accordance with this invention; Fig. 2 is a fragmentary sectional view through the conveyer; and Fig. 3 is a top plan view of that portion of the conveyer which is shown in Fig. 2. Fig. 4 is a transverse sectional view of the pipe.
The conveyer pipe 10 leads from the cyclone 11 and has its free end portion 12 bent downwardly and terminating in an enlarged mouth 13. The lower portion of the conveyer is provided with openings through which the guards or hoods 14 extend, the guards being secured to'the conveyer pipe by bolts 15 so that the guards may be removed when necessary. These guards 14: have their forward walls 16 provided with openings through which the nozzles 17 of the steam pipe 18 pass so that steam will be injected into the conveyer. The upper portion of the pipe 10 is provided with an opening 19 above each of the guards 1 1 and a second opening 20 just forward of the i opening 19. A bell-shaped drum or cover 21 is provided for the opening 19 and is secured to the pipe by means of bolts 23. This cover is formed bell-shaped as shown in Figs. 1 and 2 so that the diameter of the pipe will be increased at the point where the hood or guard 14 is placed, and thus prevent the pipe from being choked. The passage of shavings or other matter through the pipe will therefore not be retarded. The hand-hold 20 which is normally closed by the cover or cap 24 is provided so that when desired, the cap can be removed and access easily had to the nozzle 17. This construction will therefore provide a conveyer which cannot be easily choked or stopped up and which is so constructed that when desired, access may be easily had to the interior of the pipe for the purpose of cleaning the pipe or for any other purpose.
What is claimed is A conveyer pipe provided with a lower opening, a guard secured to said conveyer pipe and extending through the opening in the same, a fluid pipe extending through said guard into said conveyer pipe and eX- tending toward the outlet end thereof, said conveyer pipe being provided with an opening positioned above said guard and with a second opening positioned adjacent said last mentioned opening and forward of the inner end of said fluid pipe, a convex cover for the opening above said guard, and a cover for the opening forward of said fluid pipe.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
AMOS D. HERB.
