, outer ends, loops 5 and an obliquely extending hand supporting arch 6 opening at the rear. The arch 6 is secured at the point 7 by means of a wrapping of wire 8, by solder or a metal clamp.
The arches are connected together at the frcnt by a strip or rod 1l,- riveted or otherwise secured thereto, which converges to- .Y
ward the outer end of the splint and toward the strips 3 and 4. The purpose of the arch 6 is to support the hand and its oblique inclination to adapt it to conform to the shape of the palm of the hand.
The splint on account of being constructed as above described is adapted tobe applied to either arm and can be made in a sufficient number of sizes to fit the diierent sizes of arms. To prevent undue pressure on the tissues the splint is wrapped with felt l2, or'other suitable material, and a strip of fiexible wood 13 or other material having a l `pad 14 is applied to the ulnar side of the sible in a' fixed position, the splint bent or manipulated to conform te the shape of the palm of the hand, on the radial side in front of the thumb, the head of the radius and to the upper part of the forearm, the dressing is completed bv the application of a padded strip of flexible wood to the ulnar side of the arm and the splint is then secured by an adhesive strip or bandage applied around the palmar, ulnar and brachial arches.
