patent is designed for attachment to the out side of a building for the purpose of holding bedding'in order that the same may be sunned and aired in the open air.

The invention has for its object to provide a device of the kind stated which is simple in constructiomand easily put up or taken down, and which will securely hold the articles to be supported.

The invention also has for its object to provide a supporting device which can be folded out of the way when not in use.

With the objects stated in View, the inventionconsists in a novel combination and arrangement of parts to be hereinafter described and claimed, and in order that thesame may be better understood, reference is had to the accompanying drawing, in which Figure 1 is a plan view of the device; Fig. 2 is a side elevation thereof; Fig. 3 is a is a detail in perspective.

In carrying out the invention there are provided two brackets, each comprising a horizontalarm 5 having at its inner end a section on the line 33 of Fig. 1,1and Fig. 4

The outer end of the bracket arm has an oblique rearward and downward bend 7 terminating at its lower end in a straight downward bend 8 which is flattened, and has a forward bend 9 at the bottom to form a book. The lower portion of the bend 8 is reduced in width, as indicated at 10. The parts 6 and 8 are vertically spaced and in alinement, and they form pivots on which the bracket may be swung.

On the wall 11 of the building are mounted vertically spaced eye- bolts 12 and 13 which serve as bearings for supporting the brackets. The pivot 6 seats in the upper eye-bolt 12, and the pivot 8 seats in the lower eye-lmlt 13, the latter having a non-circular aperture conforming to the cross-sectional shape of the part 8. Before the bracket can be swung, it is necessary to elevate the same .until the reduced. part 10 of the part 8 enters the aperture of the eye-bolt 13, whereupon the bracket may be swung sidewise against the wall 11, out of the way. When the enlarged upper portion of the part 8 seats in the aperture of the eye-bolt 13, the bracket cannot swing, and it is securely held projecting straight out from the wall 11. The

hook 9 extends beneath the eye-bolt 13 and prevents thebracket from slipping up to disengage the pivots from the eye-bolts.

The top of the eye-bolt 13 has a recess 14 extending transversely, and the reduced portion 10 of the part 8 forms a shoulder 15. When the bracket is swung sidewise against the wall 11, the shoulder 15 enters the recess 14, whereby the-bracket is locked in folded position, and before it can be swung out, it

must be lifted sufficiently to take the shoulder out of the recess.

The two bracket members hereinbefore described are mounted in laterally spaced relation below and adjacent to a window 16 so that the part to be supported outside the latter may be readily put on or taken off. As stated, the device is designed primarily for sunning and airing bedding in the open am The following means are provided for holding the bedding on the bracket members: 9n the bracket arms 5 is placed an open-work shelf 17 composed of wire, and consisting of two hingedly connected sections, so that the shelf may be folded together and passed through the window 16 from the inside. Each shelf section is composed of marginal wires, and longitudinal and cross wires 18 and 19, respectively, the cross wires 19 having eyes 20 at their inner ends to receive a hinge rod 21, whereby the hinge connection between the sections is had.

The shelf is placed on the bracket arms 5, and the bedding is placed on the shelf. ()n the longitudinal marginal wire of the shelf section which is next to the window 16 are mounted spring clips 22 which engage the bracket arms to hold the shelf in place thereon.

The bedding is held down in place on the shelf 17, and prevented from blowing 03 the same. by two holders, each comprising a rod 23 having depending hooks '24 and 25, respectively, at its ends; The outer end of the bracket arm 5 has an upstanding loop or eye 26 to receive the hook 24, and the hook 125 is engaged under the bracket arm near its inner end. The shank of the hook '25 is longer than the shank of the book 24;, so that the rod 23 may be parallel to the bracket arm. When in position on the bracket arm, the rod is above the same, in spaced relation therewith and with the shelf 17, so as to extend across the bedding lying on the shelf. A holding rod is attached to each bracket arm, and the bedding is therefore securely held down on the shelf.

The device is simple in construction, and it can be easily and cheaply manufactured, and readily applied to any building.

It will be understood, of course, that the device is not limited to the particular use stated. but may be employed for supporting other articles.

\Ve claim:

1. A support comprising a horizontal arm and a downwardly and inwardly extending arm at the outer end thereof, the inner ends of the arms having ali'ned pivots, one of which pivots has a portion which is noncircular in cross-section, and hearings in a and a. downwardly and inwardly extending arm at the outer end thereof, the inner ends of the arms having alined pivots. one of which pivots has a portion which is nonforming to the non-circular portion thereof, andsaid last-mentioned pivot having a shoulder, its bearing having a top recess in which the shoulder is adapted to seat.

3. A support comprising a pair of laterally spaced bracket arms, attaching means for said arms, an article-supporting shelf mounted on the bracket arms, article-holding members extending above the shelf and having depending hooks engageable with the bracket arms, and clips fastening the shelf to the bracket arms.

4. A support comprising a pair of-laterally spaced bracket arms, attaching means for said arms, an article-supporting shelf mounted on the bracket arms, and articleholding members extending above the shelf and having depending hooks engageable with the bracket arms.

5. A support comprising a pair of laterally spaced bracket arms, attaching means for said arms, an article-supporting shelf mounted on the bracket arms, and articleholding members extendingabove the shelf and having depending hooks engageable with the bracket arms, the outer ends of the bracket arms having upstanding loops engageable by corresponding hooks of the holding members.
