Another object of the invention is the provision of a syringe of this character wherein the same is of novel form to permit the introduction of the said syringe into the vagina, withoutpain or injury thereto, as to enable the perfect treatment ofthe vaginal tract and uterus, without liability of the fluid used from gaining an entraneeto the womb, which would possibly result in a hemorrhage or an abortion, should the female be pregnant. 1
A further object of the invention is the provision of a syringe of this character which is extremely simple in construction, reliable and efficient in operation, strong, durable, and inexpensive in manufacture.
With these and other objects in view, the invention consists in the features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts as will be herein after fully described, illustrated in theaecompanying drawings, and pointed out in the claims hereunto appended.

Referring to the drawings in detail, thesyringe comprises a hollow stem 5, preferably made from metal, having at one end a nipple 6, for the connection therewith of a Specification of Letters Patent.

The stem 5, is slidably passed centrally through a disk 12, in which are secured resilient spreader fingers 13, forming a cage for the stem 5 and nozzle Z, the said stem be ing fitted with a spreader disk 14, which acts upon the fingers 13 for the spreadin thereof on movement of the stem 5 in one direction, each finger being formed from a single wire having its ends fastened in the disk 12, and
these fingers are slightly outwardly bowed at 15 near their free ends, so that the latter will rest within a groove lfi formed in.the nozzle 7, when the same is projected beyond the free ends of the fingers, therebyserving to guard the free ends of the latter, to pre vent the same from injuring the end of the womb or the external us, after the syringe has been inserted in the vagina.
Surrounding the cage at its inne r end is a resilient sleeve 17, the fingers 13 being outwardly bent to form flared portions 18, at
their inner ends to prevent the collapsing of the sleeve, which serves as a closure plu vfor the mouth of the vagina. The larger en of the sleeve 17 is formed with an inturned annular flange 19 togengage over the marginal edge of a drain or discharge cup. 20 provided with a discharge nipple 21, over which fits a hose for the discharge of the used'fiuid from the vagina, the cup"20 being formed with a tapering boss22 through which slidesthe stem 5, which has secured thereto a cross finger hold or handle 23, to,
permit the same to be actuated, when the syringe is used. Mounted on the stem 5 and abutting against the handle 23 is a resilient collar 24, which is adapted to enter and engage in the boss 22, on moving the stem 5 inwardly of the cage, so as to prevent leak the spree ing of the fingers 13, by the spreader disk 14, for the opening of the vagina, to permit the sprayin 'oi the walls thereof with the fluid intr need through the nozzle, for the treatment of diseases of p the said vagina.
From'the foregoing it is thought that the construction and operation of the syringe will be clearly understood and therefore a more extended explanation has been omitted.
What is claimed is l. A syringe of the class described comprising a stem having a nipple at one end, a flared nozzle at the opposite end of the stem and having aconcaved outer concentrically perforated surface, a perforated rounded peripheral edge, and a reduced annular portion formiiig a shoulder rearwardly of the rounded edge, a discharge cup loosely fitted on the stem to permit sliding movement of the'latter therethrough and having a central forwardly tapering hollow boss, a handle fixed to the stem, a packing ring surrounding the stern and working against the handle for engagement in the hollow boss to form a sealed joint between the cup and the said stern, a cage fixed to the cup and concentrically disposed about the stem and having resilient spreader fingers, means on the stem for spreading the said fingers on the slidin of the stem, and a resilient sleeve surround Egzztion within the ing the cage and detachably engaged with the peri )hery oi the cup, the said resilient fingers lJeing formed with slightly outwardly bowed free ends to engage and become seated against the shoulder on the nozzle rearwardly of the rounded edge thereof.

ring surrounding the stem and working against the handle for engagement 'in the hollow boss to form a sealed joint between the cup and the said stem, a cage fixed to the cup and concentrically disposed about the stem and having resilient spreader fingers, means on the stem for spreading the said fingers on the sliding of the stem, a resilient sleeve surroundin the cage and detachably engaged with t e eriphery of the cup, Jthe said resilient ngers being formed with slightly outwardly bowed free ends to engage and become seated against the shoulder on the nozzle rearwardly of the rounded edge thereof, and a nipple integral with and protruding from the cup.
