This invention relates to improvements handle-supporting attachments for wheels, and pertains more especially to -ahandlesupporting attachment which is adapted to be applied to a wheel to berotated through the medium of the-handle of. said attach ment at the peripheral surface of the wheel.

The primary object of this invention-is to provide a handle-supporting attachment of the character indicated which is simple in construction';'and "readily "applied "'to' the wheel to be rotated by hand."

'With this object ,in view, and to the end of attaining any other advantage hereinafter appearing, this invention consists in certain features of construction, and combinations andrelative arrangement of parts, hereinafter described in this specification, pointed out in the claims, and illustrated in the accompanying drawings.

In said drawings, Figure l is an end view of a shaft which is operatively provided with a pulley or wheel provided with my improved handle supporting attachment.

Fig. 2 is a left-hand side elevation relative to Fig. 1. Fig. 3 is a central section'of my improved handle-supporting attachment.

Referring to Figs. 1 and 2 of the drawings, A indicates a shaft which is operatively provided with a pulley or wheel B which is to be rotated by hand although sometimes if not generally rotated in some other manner. My improved handle-supporting attachment is shown detached in Fig, 3 and comprises a sheet-metal strap C adapted to extend circumferentially of and be clamped to the peripheral surface of a wheel, and in F igs. 1 and 2 said strap is shown mounted on and extending circumferentially of the peripheral surface of the wheel B. handle is interposed between opposite endportions of the strap 0 and arranged parallel with the axis of the wheel upon the application of the strap to a wheel as shown in Figs. 1 and 2, and said handle upon the application of my improved attachment to I the wheel is arranged with opposite sides of the inner end-portion thereof approximately radial to said wheel. Preferably one endportion of the strap C has an outwardly projecting arm 5 overlapping one sideof the inner end-portion of the handle, and said arm is preferably made strong enough by forming the arm by folding together a-portion of the strap in such a manner that said arm comprises two thicknesses of'the metal composing the strap, and said end-portion of the strap extends, as at 6, from the inner end'of said arm across the-wheel-facin'g surface of the inner end-portion of the'han-' 1 die, 'as at 7, and the other end-portion'of the strap terminates-in an outwardly projecting arm '8'which is preferably formed by folding togethera portion-of the'strap in such a manner that the last-mentioned metal composing the strap between the outer ;arm comprises a double thickness of-the end of said last-mentioned arm and the terminal end 7 of the-first-mentioned end-portion of the strap. Means for securing to gether the arms 5 and 8 and the handle D and for clamping or tightening the strap T to the peripheral surface of the wheel B are provided and comprise a bolt which (see Fig. 3) has its shank G extending loosely through the arm 5 and loosely through the A inner end-portion d of the handle and loosely through a bolt-hole 10 formed in the arm 8.-

Said bolt has a head 9 arranged at the outer side of the arm 5, and a nut H is screwed onto the shank of the bolt at the outer side of the arm 8. It will be observed that upon manipulating the not H to tighten it against the arm 8, the arms 5 and 8 and the handle interposed between said 'arms areclamped or tightly secured together, and the strap C has such length relative to the diameter of the wheel to which it is to be applied that the strap upon clamping the arms 5 and S and the handle D together is clamped to the i peripheral surface of said wheel.

I would here remark that the strap C is not only provided with a bolt-hole 10 in its portion which forms the arm 8 but is also provided adjacent said arm with additional bolt-holes 12 which are spaced equidistantly 5 diameter than the wheelillustrated.
