Be it known that I, LEON SouLLmRE, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at Detroit, in the county of Wayne and State of Michigan, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Lock Circuit-Closers, of which the following is a specification, referencebeing had therein to the accompanying drawings.
This invention relates to a lock circuit closer, and more particularly to a circuit closer which can be advantageously used'in connection with an alarm and the ignition system of an automobile to prevent the same from being surreptitiously used or stolen.
As an instance of the use ofthe device, my invention aims to provide a lock circuit closer that includes a key-actuated switch in conjunction with the ignition system of an automobile, whereby the ignition circuit can be positively broken and secured against completion and another circuit'in connection with an alarm established in an open condition, which is closed to sound the alarm should the ignition circuit be tampered with preparatory to starting the automobile.
My invention will be understood from the following description, in connection with the drawings, wherein- Figure 1 is a cross sectional view of the lock circuit closer as connected to the control board or dash board of an automobile; Fig. 2 is an enlarged elevation of the circuit closer, showing the lid broken away to illustrate the key-actuated switch of the ignition and alarm circuits, and Fig. 3 is a diagrammatic view illustrating the electrical connection of the ignition and alarm circuit.
As illustrating an installation of the lock circuit closer, l-denotes the control or dash board of an automobile and connected thereto by bolts 2, nuts 3 or other fastening means is the rear wall or bottom t of a casing 5. This casing has a lid 6 hinged or otherwise connected thereto, as at 7 and the lid is retained in a closed position by a conventional form of lock 8. The lid 6 has another key actuated lock 9 and the bolt 10 of this lock is adapted to engage a resilient contact arm 11 carried by and insulated fromthe upper wall 12 of the casing. The resilient contact arm 11 is connected by a wire 13 to a conventional form of push button switch.consisting of buttons 14 and 15 movable in open- Specifieation of Letters Patent.

Above the resilient contact arm'll is a contact piece 24 adapted to be engaged bysaid arm when the bolt 10 of the lock 9 is extended, and said contact piece is connected by a wire 25 to an audible signal, as an electric bell 26 located within the casing 5. The electric bell 26 is connected by a wire 27 to the wire 16 whereby the battery 17 will be included in its circuit.
By again referring to Fig. 3, showing the bolt 10 of the lock 9 in a retracted position, it will be observed that the resilient contact arm 11 engages the contact arm 13 and thereby establishes an open circuit in connection with the ignition system, which can be closed by pushing upon the button 15. This ignition system circuit has been illustrated as closed forestablishing the circuit through the spark plugs 20 of the internal combustion engine. When the-push/button 14 is pressed the spark plug circuit is'broken and assuming now that the automobile is to be left standing during the absence of the owner, the operator or owner inserts the key in the lock 9 and extends the bolt 10, thereby placing the resilient contact arm 11 in engagement with the contact piece 24 An open alarm circuit is thereby established and should a person tamper with the push button switch with the expectation of completing an ignition system circuit, pressure upon the 1 mobile or any damage thereto.
