WALTER A. WAGNER, OF SI-IEBOYGAN, WISCONSIN.
HAME.
Application filed April 8,1914.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, WALTER A. WAGNER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Sheboygan, in the county of Sheboygan and State of WVisconsin, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Hames, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to improved hames, and the principal object is to provide an improved attachment with the hames so that the fastening strap for the top of the hames may have a relatively large amount of adjustment.
Another object of the invention is to so construct the plate that it may be connected with hames now in use without the hames needing to be altered in order to connect the plate with them.
These objects are accomplished by provid ing the plate with strap receiving openings positioned at a certain angle as will be brought out farther on, thus permitting a relatively large number of openings to be formed in each of the plates without the plates being weakened.
This invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawings wherein-Figure 1 is a side elevation of a hame provided with the improved plate; Fig. 2 is a transverse sectional view taken along the line 2-2 of Fig. 1.
The hame 10 is constructed similar to hames which are now in use, and is pro vided with the usual bottom piece 11 by means of which the lower ends of a pair of hames may be connected, and with the usual ornamental knob 12 at its upper end. The plate 13 is provided with reduced upper and lower end portions 14 and 15 through which securing screws or bolts 16 are passed to connect the plate with the upper end por- Specification of Letters Patent.

tion of the hame. the plate 13 and are cut at an incline as shown at big. 1 with their end portions overlapping. By having the slots cut at an incline with their end portions overlapping, a relatively large number of slots may be formed in the plate 13 without the plate oeing weakened and without the plate being unnecessarily elongated, therefore the strap which connects the ends of the hames may be adjusted without it being moved a verv great distance along the plate. This permits the strap to be adjusted longitudinally of the plates a short distance.
It will thus be seen that I have provided an attachment by means of which the connecting straps may be adjusted a small amount; and that I have also provided a plate which will permit of this adjustment without the plate being unnecessarily weakened. It should also be noted that this plate can be formed of sheet metal or cast metal, or can be formed of any other suitable material such as wood or composition.
What is claimed is: An attachment for hames comprising a plate having its end portions reduced to WALTER A. WAGNER.
