FRANQOIS SENN, OF FORESTVILLE, NEW YORK,
IMPROVEMENT IN BOOTS AND SHOES.
To all whom it may concern:
Y Be it knownv that l, FRANoIs SENN, of Forestville, in the county of Chautauqua and State of New York, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Boots and Shoes; and l do hereby declare that the following isa full, clear, and eX- of a boot or shoe; and consists in folding the upper outward part around the welt, stitchingit and the welt to the in-sole, and finally sewing all to the main sole. A water-prooil seam is thereby obtained without additional expense or waste of material.

Thus it will be seen the upper' closes the joint by its lap a, so that water cannot enter except luider the lap, where it would also come under the iii-sole. A practically Water-proof `joint is thus obtained.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- The seam, composed ofthe upper, welt, lap a., and sole, being' first stitched and then secured by thread or peg, as set forth.
