following is a full, clear, concise, and exact description, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming a part of this specification.
This invention relates to electric lainp sockets, pendent switches, and the like,-and more particularly to such devices wherein the insulating lining for the casing cap is carriedby the socket base housed in the casing disclosed in the co-pending application of Charlesol. Klein, tiled lllarch l'i' 1913, Serial No. 754,807.
()ne of the objects of theinvention to provide simplified and improved means for attaching a casing cap lining to an insulating base housed in the casin A further object is to provide an ellicient snap locking means for releasably securing a resilient insulating member to a rigid insulating xnemher.

In order b0 more clearly disclose my invention I have illustrated a preferred cinhodiment thereof in the accompanying drawing. It is to be understood, however, that the form shown issus'cepti'ole of modification and that the invention is capable of other embodiments.

A screw shell. 8 is secured to the lower face of the base section 5 and pair of terminal binding posts 9, for connection to line wires, are provided on opposite sides of the insulating base and preferably arranged on the section 5 at right angles to the ushbutton 7. Vertically extending conductor grooves 10 are provided in the sides of the upper section 6 in alinement with the binding posts 9. An annular flange 11 extends around the upper margin of the base 6 and is provided with oppositely (lisposed cut-away recesses 12 coinciding with the grooves 10.

The shell 1 is lined with a tube 20 of in sulating material, and, in the preferred form the margin 21 of the shell ining fits over i the lugs let of the cap lining when the socket is assembled. The cap lining is then positively secured against accidental separation from the base and furthermore, in the case of pendent sockets, the cap lining may thus be employed as a strain relief for the line conductors by knotting the latter within the lining.
What I claim as new by Letters Patent is:
1. The combination with a lamp socket or similar casing including a cap, of a device provided with terminals for connection with line wires, and an insulating member carried by said device to insulate the line wires from said.easing cap, one of said parts having a shoulder and the other having a resilient portion receiving said shoulder to seeure the sametogether.
The combination with a metallic casing comprising a cap and shell having means for locking the same together, of an insulating base'inclosed and supported within said casing, and an insulating linin of tiberlike material for said cap mounted on said base, said parts having snap engaging means, independent of said first-mentioned means, for securing said lining to said base.
3. In a lamp socket or similar device, in combination, an insulating base having a peripheral transverse flange, said flange and desire to secure having a vertical recess therein, and an insulating member of fibrous material having a marginal ear with a cross head and connectin portion, the head of said ear engaging a transverse face of said base flange and the connecting portion of said ear fitting in said flange recess to holdvsaid member and said base in fixed relation.
4. In a lamp socket or similar device, in combination, an insulating base having a terminal binding post accessible from the side of said base for connection to a line Wire and having a recess above said binding post for receiving said wire, and an insulating lining having a marginal portion overlyingsaid base recess for holding said Wire therein.
5. In a lamp socket or similar combination, an insulating binding post for connection to a line wire and a groove thereabove for receiving said wire, and an insulating cover having a resilient marginal portion engaging said base for securing the same together and overlying said groove for holding said wire therein.
6. Ina lamp socket or similar device, the combination with a casing comprising a cap and shell, of a base therein for the currentcarrying parts, an insulating member for said casing eap having attaching portions for engaging said base, and an insulating member for said casing shell fitting over said attaching portions of insulating member for holding the same in engagement with said base. 4
