Description
UNITED STATES WILLIAM M. PRYOR AND ROBERT LUDWICK, OF KELLOGG, IOWA.
IMPROVEMENT `IN FARMERS BOILERS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 116,753, dated July 4, 1871.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, WILLIAM M. PRYOR and ROBERT LUDWIGK, of Kellogg, in the county of Jasper and in the State of Iowa, have invented certain new and useful Improvements iii-Steamer for steaming Food for Stock; and do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawing and to the letters of reference marked thereon making a part of this specification.
The nature of 01u1 invention consists in the construction and arrangement of a steal ner for steamin gfood for stock, as will be hereinafter more fully set forth.
In order to enable others skilled in the art to which our invention appertains to make and use the saine, we will nowproceed to describe its construction and operation, referringl to the annexed drawing, in Whichr Figure l is a side elevation of our steamer, and Fig. 2 is a longitudinal vertical section of the cover.
A represents a hollow reservoir, made of castiron, of any suitable dimensions, and provided, near its lower end, with a circumferential iiangc or rim, a, to hold the machine on the pot-hole on top ofthe sto've. B is a faucet in the side of the reservoir A, near the lower end, to draw oil' the Water. Around the upper end of the reservoir Y A is a rim, b, and upon the cover O is also a circumferential rim, b', between which rims is placed a rubber packing, d, and the cover secured by bolts e through the rims. In this cover C is an escape-valve, D, having an adjustable weight, by means of which the valve may be set at any desired pressure; and from this cover a tube or pipe, E, leads to conduct the steam to the feed` box. The end of this tube may have a straight nozzle, G, or a T shaped one, G', as shown, whichever may be deemed of most advantage.
Having thus fully described ourinvention, what we claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
l. The combination of the reservoir A with flanges or rims a b, the cover C with flange or rim b, and the rubber packing d, all substantially as and for the purposes herein set forth.
2. The combination ofthe reservoir A with flanges or rims a b, faucet B, cover O With'ilange or rim b', rubber packing d, adjustable escapevalve D, and tube or pipe E, with nozzle G or Gr', all constructed and arranged substantially as and for the purposes herein set forth.
In testimony that we claim the foregoing we have hereunto set our hands this 18th day of April, 1871.
W. M. PRYOR. v ROBERT LUDVIGK. Witnesses S. S. PATTERSON, W. A. YiNGLING.
