LABELING TICKET.

. LABELING-TICKET.
messes.
To all whom it may concern.
Be it known that I, JOSEPH FORMAN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Walbrook, in the city of Baltimore and State of Maryland, have invented'certain new and useful Improvements in Labeling- Tickets; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
My invention relates to improvements in labeling tickets, such as those used for labeling ready made clothing, for the purpose of classifying and giving the size and price thereof.
Heretofore, it has been the common practice to stitch fiat rectangular tickets upon the garments, for the aforesaid purpose, and to provide no means for removing such tickets, thus necessitating that a knife be inserted between the latter and the garment to sever the stitches. This often causes the garment to be materially injured, especially in large ready made clothing establishments where various parts of garments are made in quantities by dilferent employees and such parts later brought together and ashereinafter described and claimed.
In describing the invention, I shall refer to the accompanying drawing, wherein:
Figures 1, 2 and 3 are perspective views, showing the application of my improved ticket to use; Fig. 4 is a section cut through the ticket shown in Fig. 1 and through the garment to which the same is attached; and Fig. 5 is an edge view of a ticket showing it applied to use in a different manner.
In Figs. 1 and 4, the tag 1 is shown of rectangular formation and as having its two ends folded upwardly and inwardly upon its front face as seen at 2 to provide integral tabs 3. Through these tabs 3, through i specification-of Letters Patent.
Application filed. February 13, 1915. Serial No. 7,998.
the end portions of the ticket 1, and through the garment, the stitches 42 extend, such stitches being shown in these two views as disposed at the four corners of the ticket. It will thus be seen that the lot, size, price, etc, may be imprinted upon the front face of the ticket, either before or after the same is stitched to the garment, and that after the latter is sold, such ticket may be easily removed without anydanger whatsoever of injuring the garment. result, it is simply necessary to insert the blade of a knife or other appropriate cutter between the tabs 3 and the ticket 1, thus severing the stitches t and allowing such tab to be removed, after which the remaining threads may be pulled from the garment.
In Fig. 2, the ticket 1 is shown of a design varying slightly from that seen in Figs. 1 and 4, and in this figure the stitches 45 are extended longitudinally of the tabs 3 it being understood that such stitch-es also extend through the garment and 7 through the ticket itself. Needless to say,
this form of the invention is applied to use and removed therefrom in the manner above described.
As illustrative of still another form in which the invention may be embodied, Fig. 8 illustrates the four corners of the tag or ticket 1 as bent upwardly and inwardly into contact with its front face to provide attaching tabs 3' through which, the ticket, and V the garment, the stitches a are extended. It may here beexplained, however, that although the various tabs are shown in Figs. 1 to 4 as folded into contact with the outer faces of the tickets, they might well be folded in the opposite direction, into contact with the rear faces of said tickets, as seen in Fig. 5, in which position the stitching-it secures the ticket 1, to the garment with the tabs 3 disposed between said ticket and said garment. This construction has been found to operate to a great advantage over that previously set forth.
I claim 1. A ticket of the character set forth adapted to be temporarily secured to a sheet of flexible material and having an attaching portion consisting of two thicknesses of material, and stitching passing through said thicknesses and adapted to secure the ticket to the sheet, whereby said stitching 7 may be severed Without injury by the insertion of a blade between the aforesaid thicknesses.
2. A ticket of the character set forth adapted to be temporarily secured to a sheet of flexible material and having an integrally A ticket of the character set forth adapted to be temporarily secured to a sheet 'Of flexible material and having one of its edge portionsfo-lded toward one of'its fiat faces to provide a tab, and stitching 'passing through the ticket and the tab and adapted to secure the former to the sheet,
whereby said stitching may be severed 'Without injury to the sheet by the insertion MARY C. REED, V" BE E LABLAlVL Copies of this patent maybe obtained for five cents each, by addressingv the Commissioner of Patents,
