An important object of this invention is to provide a device of the above mentioned character, formed of few and simple parts, which may be readily assembled and separated, and Will not be liable to accidents, such as the disconnection of the parts thereof or of the trolley Wire held by the same.
A further object of this invention is to provide a trolley Wire clamp, which may be used in connection with either a trolley wheel or sliding shoe contact device.
A further object of the invention is to provide a device of the above mentioned character, which can be assembled, inst-alled, or taken apart without loss of time, can be manufactured at a small expense, and is durable under the conditions usually found where a catenary or other trolley Wire construction is employed.
Other objects and advant-ages of this invention will be apparent during the course of the following description.

'The outwardly `bu'lging heads 15 provide a relatively large Chamber or opening 17, to receive a suspension Wire 18, extending longitudinally of the track and in the same vertical plane with the trolley Wire 14. The outwardly bulging heads 15 are provided upon their adjacent inner edges with openings or recesses 19, which are in regstration, for forming a common Vertical opening for receiving a suspension strap, to be referred to. At this point, attention is called to the fact that the clamping plates 11 are permanently spaced providing an opening 20 therebetween When the trolley Wire is inserted between the lower jaws.
One clamping plate 11 is provided through its central portion with a transverse opening 21, which is square in cross-section to receive a square portion 22 of a transverse clamping bolt 28. IThis clamping bolt is provided with a screW-threaded end portion 24,' extending outwardly beyond the opposite clamping plate 11. Arranged upon the screW-threaded portion 24: is a nut 25, engaging a Washer 26. As shown in Fig. 2, the clamping bolt 28 serves to clamp the plates 11 into engagement with the suspension Wire 18 and the trolley Wire 14 whereby these plates may be readily separated and assembled by proper manipulation of the single clamping bolt.
It is often desirable to suspend the trolley clamp by means of a strap 27, which may be inserted through the Vertical opening or openings 19, to extend into the space 20, as clearly shown in Fig. 4:. The strap 27 is provided at its lower end with an opening 28 to receive the clamping bolt 23. The strap 27 is provided at its upper end (not shown) with suitable means whereby the same may be connected With transverse suspension wires or other supporting means.
In the use of the trolley clamp, the same may be suspended by either the longitudinally extending cable 18 or the strap 27. In
either case the trolley Wire 14 is gripped be tween the jaws 13 and is suspended thereby.

Having desoribed my invention, I claim tially centrally thereof with alined transverse openings and at their upper ends with inwardly projecting extensions having reserving to prevent one plate from being turned upon the bolt with relation to the other and having its end apertured to receive the bolt.
