To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, RUDoLr SLABY, subject of the King of Prussia, residing at 33 Dienershalde, Stuttgart, Kingdom of lVurttemberg, German Empire, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Carbureters for Liquid Fuel, of which the following is a specification.
The present invention. relates'to carbureters for liquid fuel and its particular object is a carbureter allowing a thorough dis integration and atomization of the fuel before it enters the carbureting chamber. In order to attain this, instead of introducing the fuel into the carbureting chamber directly from the fuel noz zle or from any other aperture at the end of the fuel tube, a cap-shaped chamber is inserted between said nozzle or aperture and the carbureting chamber proper, said cap-shaped chamber communicating with the carbureting chamber through openings arranged in its wall. This arrangement causes a gradual reduction of the fuel into the gaseous state to take Place, the fuel already atomized on entering the cap-shaped chamber being further atomized within said chamber by whirling and by passing from said chamber into the carbureting chamber.
Preferably the cap-shaped chamber should be arranged so as to admit part of the primary air, thus causing the fuel to be mixed with part of the air before entering the carbureting chamber. The apertures connecting the cap-shaped chamber with the carbu reting chamber are preferably shaped so as to present the shortest cylindrical walls possible, and to form a keen peripheral edge. This is attained either by forming the capshaped chamber of thin sheet metal or else by countersinking the apertures. A plurality of cap-shaped chambers may be arranged in series.

The fuel escaping from the last resistance does not enter the carbureting chamber direct but passes first of all into the cap-shaped chamber d there to be further disintegrated by whirling and to pass 7 presenting a keen circulal or other edge (Z The single particles of the fuel andair mixture instead of being guided by the cylindrical walls of the apertures in parallel directions are thereby forced past said keen, edge and will expand immediately thereafter in the carbureting chamber.
The nozzle provided with a multistage resistance as shown in the drawings may be 1 replaced by any other suitable nozzle.
I claim 2- 1. In a carbureter, the combination of a earburetingchamber, a fuel nor zle, a hollow member located at-the free end of said nozzle and having its inner surface curved and forming a substantial continum ion of the nozzle mouth whereby the-fuel leaving the latter is given a wh'iing motion in said hollow member, the latter being provided with spaced radially disposed apertures connecting the interior of said member wit said carburcting chamber.

In a carbureter, the combination of a carbureting chamber, a fuel nozzle, a hollow member located at the free end of said nozzle and provided with apertures connecting the interior of said member with said carbib reting chamber, the walls of said apertures diverging toward said chamber.
5. In a carb'ureter, earbureting chamber, a fuel nozzle, a hollow member located at the free end of said nozconnecting the interior of said member with said carbureting chamber, the walls of said apertures diverging from a point between the inner the combination of 21' and outer surfaces of said member toward one of said surfaces.
6. In a carbureter, the combination of a carbureting chamber, a fuel nozzle, a hollow member located at the free end of said nozzle andsprovided with apertures connecting the interior of said member with said carbureting chamber, the diameter of each aperture being greater at one surface of said member than at the other.

In a carbureter, the combination or a carbureting chamber, a fuel nozzle, a hollow member located at the free end of said nozale and provided with apertures connecting the interior of said member with said carbureting chamber, the diameter of each aperture being greater at the outer surface of said member than at the inner surface thereof.
