JACOB LINGENFELTER, OF BLOODY RUN, PENNSYLVANIA.
IMPROVEMENT IN MILLSTONiE-EXHAUSTS.
Speci cation forming part of Letters Patent No. 115,747, dated June 6, 1871.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JACOB LINGENFELTER, of Bloody Run, in the county of Bedford and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new` and valuable Improvement in Millstone-EX- hausts and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description ofthe construction and operation of the same, reference being had to the annexed drawing making a part of this specification and to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon.
Figure l ot' the drawing is a representation of a vertical section of my invention. Fig. 2 is a vertical section of fan-case. top view and partial horizontal section of millstone-case. Fig. 4 is a detached view.
This invention has relation to certain improvements in millstone-exhausts; and consists of a series of guarded draft-openings arranged part way around the curb or case which surrounds the stones, and to which the exhaust-tube is connected. This invention also consists in the hereinafterdescribed arrangement of the flour-escape tube, and the application thereto of a swinging gate, which, While it adapts itself to the varying ow of tiour, allows all the draft at the point where it is located that may be required.
In the accompanying drawing illustrating this invention, A A represent a pair of millburrs; B, the surrounding case; D, the exhaust-tube communicatin g with the interior of said case; Gr, openings in the form of recta-n` Fig. 31's a gular slots formed through the case B, and guarded on` the inside by oblique wings G', opening in the direction of rotation of the upper stone. The object of these win gs is' to allow a strong suction-draft to be created, and prevent the escape of flour through the openings G. H represents an inclined chute, coinmunicating with the lower part of the case B, and intendedfor the escape of the flour when ground. This chute is relatively located to one side of the exhaust-tube D, so as to create a better draft. E denotes toa fan-case, coinmunicating with the exhaust-tube, at the upper end of which it is situated, by means of the side tlues or tubes D. E indicates a horizontally-rotating fan, journaled within the case E. The motion of this fan intensiiesthe draft of the exhaust-tube, and enables the same to serve its intended purpose more effectually.
The case B, openings G, guards G', chute H, exhaust-tube D, and fan E, all constructed and arranged substantially as and for the pur` pose specified.
In testimony that I claim the above I have hereunto subscribed my name in the presence of two witnesses.
JACOB LINGENFELTER.
Witnesses J. B. Tonus, J ns. A. MANN.
