shaft A shaft 23 is journaled in the members 11 and 12 and has fastened thereto a pinion 22 that meshes with the spur gear 21. A spur gear 24 is fastened to the shaft 23, and a bevel gear is fastened to the shaft 23. A substantially vertical shaft 27 is j ournaled inthe member 12 and has fastened thereto the bevel gear 26 that meshes with the bevel gear 25. At the upper end of the A. shaft 3Q is journaled in the members 11 and 29 whichnieshes with the bevel gear 28. A
sprocket drum 5 is fastened to the shaft 30.-
presser rollers 61. Aspring 61 has one end and with some parts in full; 1? ig. 2 shows a Lsection ason the line 2,2 of Fi 1 with some ,Z O partsin full and Fig. 3 is a side yiew'of the invention with some, parts omitted.
A table isindicated at9 upon which is supported a bed plate'liijthat carries the front standardlfi and the rear standard 17.
25 A connecting,brace17 connects the upper ends of the said standards 16 and 17. A
I rack-17 is formedin the standard 17. A
sleeve 18 is slidably carried on the standard 17 and has formed therewith" the earsli 0 and the j ournal lugs 18". i
Aspindle 18 is journa'led in the lug 18 andhas fastened at one end-thereof the band wheel 18 A pinion 18 is fastened to the spindle 18 andis located between the lugs 3.5 18 The pinion'18 mesheswith therack 17 A spring 18 is held iii-position by the screw 18 Plugs 1-8 are fastened on the ends ,ofthe spring 18% pass-through the .sleeve 18v and bearagainstthestandard 17,
: 9 by means of which 'the sleeve 18 is held in difi'erent positions. Ahollow shaft 19 with the eccentric-portion 37 is supported in the ears 18. A frame with the members 11 and 12 is hingedon the hollow shaft 19f Exten-' sions 11 and 12 are formed respectively with the members 11 and 12. A main shaft I 13 is j'ou'rnaled in the extensions 11? and 12. Links '11 haveeach one end supported on the shaft 13 with the other end pivoted to 5 the bed plate .15 by means of pivots 14:. An
extension 11 extends from the extension 11 and has fastened thereto one end of the spring 11. The other end-of the said spring is fastened to the bed plate 15. An operat- 5 ing crank 20 is carried on the main shaft l3, and a spur gear 21-is fastened to said fastened to the member 11 at 65 andthe other end thereof'bears against the frame 62. The frame 62 has a slotted extension 66 by which it can be clamped to the'member 11, by means of the screw 67 and the thumb nut 68. A shaft-32 has fastened thereto a pinion 31 which meshes with the spur gear 24. A disk 33 having a pin 34: and a bevel gear are also fastened to the shaft 32.
shaft 19, and has fastened thereto the- A shaft 36 is journaled in the hollow Geneva wheel 35 and'the sprocket drum 6.
' The Geneva wheel can be engaged by the pin 19. A screw 39 passes through the opening 31 of thedisk 33.
An adjustable lever' 38 with the elongated opening, 38 is fastened to the hollow shaft 38 and is", threaded in the member 12 and '12 and has fastened thereto the bevel gear by means of which the lever, 38 is clamped in positiori. A shaft 10 is journaled in the members 11' and 12 and has fastened thereto a.pinion i1. a grooved pulley 42 and the sprocket drum 7. The pinion 41 meshes with the spur gear 21. The grooved pulley 42 is connected by a belt not shown to a receiving reelnot shown for the film 2.
Frames 69 and 70 are pivoted to the member 10 by means of the pivot 71. The frames 69 and 70 have respectively formed therewith. the slotted extensions 69 and' 70,
by which they can be clamped to the'mem her 11 by means of the screw 74 and thumb nut 75. Presser rollers 69 and 70 are journaled-in the frames 69 and 70 respectively. Springs72 and 73 have each one end respectively fastened to the frames 69 and 70. The other ends of the springs 72 and 73 are fastened to the member 11 and thereby maintain the presser. rollers 69* and 70 47- issupported in the extension 46 and has journa'led therein the'shu'tter shaft 48. A
bevel gear '49 isfa-stened to one end of the shaft {148. therewith a slot 7 7 Apnea 78 is hinged by -means ofthe hinges 178 to' the elongated bearing 47.- Springs79 encircle the hinge pins 78 and oneend of which bears against The-extension 46 has formed the sleeves 43 and the other end bears against the plate 70. The extension 46 with the slot 77 and plate 78 constitute a film guide. The extension 46 has a projecting aperture 80 and the plate 78 has a projecting aperture 81. The said apertures are axially in line with each other.
A shield 82 is connected to the plate 78 by means of the screws 83 and the separators 84. The extension 46 has connected thereto a lens barrel 53 which is shown in part. The lens barrel 53 has formed therewith the bearings 52 and 52f which have journaled therein the shaft 51 having the squared portion 51. A bevel gear 50 is slidably carried on the squaredportion 51 of the shaft 51, and a bevel gear 54 is fastened to one end of the shaft 51. The bevel gear 50 meshes with the bevel gear 49 and the bevel gear 54 meshes with the bevel gear 55. A yoke 56 is carried on the shaft 39. and holds the bevel gear 54 in mesh with the bevel gear 55. A sleeve 86 with the recess 90 has 1 and passes through the film guide.
extending therefrom the segmental plate 85 and is loosely mounted on the shaft 48.
A clutch sleeve 87 bears against the segmental plate 85, and therefore against the sleeve 86, and is held in position by the screw 88 in I threaded engagement with shaft 48.
A pin 91 is fastened in the elongated bearing 47 and engages the recess 90. of the sleeve 86.
The film 2 engages the sprocket drum 5 The film then engages the sprocket drum 6 from which it passesover the sprocket drum 7. The operation of the machine is evident from the construction and it need only to I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is:
1. In a registering device for a moving picture machine the combination of a support, a vertical standard rigidly secured to said support, a film guide having a pr0- jection aperture secured to said standard, means for feeding a film past said aperture, a frame for supporting said feeding means pivoted to said support and avertically adjustable element on said standard connected to said frame.
2. In a registering device for a moving picture machine the combination of a support, a vertical. standard rigidly secured to said support, a film guide having a projection aperture secured to said standard, means for feeding a film past said aperture, a frame for supporting said feeding means pivoted to said support, a vertically movable member on said standard to which said frame is piyotally attached, and means for moving said member comprising a toothed rack on said standard, and a hand wheel provided with a pinion meshing with said rack rotatably mounted on said member.
' In testimony whereof I have signed my name in the presence of two witnesses.
