To all whom i'zfmay concern Be it known .thatI, GEORGE E. ROBINSON, a citizen of the ';United States, residing at Eugene; in the county'of'Lane and State of Oregon; have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Adjustable Bow- Sockets and Best Clamps. of which the fol lowing is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanyingdrawing. This inventionrelates to adjustable bow sockets and rest clamps, and has for its object the production of a simple andefiicient means for holding the bows adapted to support the top of an automobile or other vehicle in an assembled position when folded.
Another object of the invention is the production of a simple and efficient connecting device for holding the bows in an assembled position when the top is folded, and

A thumb screw 15 passes through thelongitudinally extending slot 9 of the link 7 and. is threaded into the primarylink 10 for firmly locking the adjustable link 7 in a set position relativeto the. primary link 10.,
The primary link 10 is carried by the forward. bow 1 6 ofthe'topofthe automobile, and this primary link is provided with a longitudinally extending slot 17, which longitudinally extending slot 17 is adapted to receive the threaded bolt 18 carried by theztopibow .16 clearly illustrated in Fig. 3.

When the cover is folded to the position shown in Fig. 2, the primary link 10 is swung at substantially right angles to the forward bow16 as illustrated in Fig. 2, and the aperture 8 of the adjustable link 7 ,is slipped over the laterally extending end 4 of the bolt 2 so as to cause the straight edge 6 of the, aperture to fit'snugly within the pocket 5 of the laterally extending ends, whereupon the thumb screw 15 is tightened for holding the adjustable link 7 in a set position relative to the primary link 10; The upwardly rolled end 11, however, is

From the foregoing descriptionit will be seen that a very simple andefiicient device has been produced for the purpose of holding the cover of an automobile in-a'closedror folded position, and that the mechanism employed is carried directly by the bows of the cover of the automobile and may be readily swung to the position for operation. should be further understood that when the device is not being used, the same may be readily swung to the position upon the bows of the cover of the vehicle so astobe out of the way and may be firmly clamped upon one of the bows of the. cover to. hold the same against rattlingi Itshould be further understood that owingto the fact that all of the parts are formed of metal, and that the several parts are adjustable, the parts of the device may be firmly held so as to prevent the bows from becoming accidentally released from the socket 14: adapted to supportthe'same.
