Be it known that T, Josnrn BRAoNiNGnR, a citizen of the United States, residing at Trenton, in the county of Mercer `and State of New Jersey, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Gas-Stoves and y Water-Heaters, of whichjthe following is a specification.

This invention relates to gas'stoves and l0 has special referencel to a lcombined gas stove and water heater. y t l `The principal object of the'invention is to provide an improved,` simplified and cheap gas stove and Water heater of the character described. y

A second object of the invention is to provide improved means for distributing theV product of combustion in such a stove.

ln carrying out the objects of this invention there is provided an inner casing which contains the combustion chambers and water heater and this inner casing is provided with the side walls land the front and back walls 8. The inner casing lis also provided with a topv 9 upon which rests the screw plugs 28 so that a removable cover 6 may be supported in spaced relation to the top. This removable cover 6 is furthermore provided with depending, outwardly flared sides 29 which hang down over the respective side, front and back walls of the inner casing in spaced relation thereto. The'end of this gas supplytube is squared as at 17 and is held in a suitable squared opening in the rear wall 8, being retained therein by means of a of the inner caspin 18. Furthermore, the tubular opening 11 has extending downwardly therefrom an air supply passage `22 which opens through the bottom of the inner casing. Extending upwardly from the opening 11 is a tubular flame passage 19 which opens centrally beiieath the top 6 of the removable cover, so thatthe heated products of combustion passing up therethrough may be deflected sidewise and find their escape through openings 30 formed in the top .6 of said cover. Each ofthe chambers 10 is likewise provided with vHaine passages 21 which are arranged vertically above the respective tubes 12.

Extending from the water chamber at the front side of the stove are nipples 26 which constitute inlet and outlet tubes for the supplyof cold water and withdrawal of the heated water.

Tn order to facilitate the cleaning of the water chamber the said chamber has at the rear end thereof, adjacent its lower part, certain clean out openings which are normally kept closed by the plugs 27.

In order to support the devicein spaced relation to the floor the inner casing is held up on suitable legs 5 arranged at respective corners thereof.

In operation, the gas is supplied through the respective tubes 12 and 15 and, when lit, the flame and product of combustion from the tubes 12 pass up through the openings ics 21 and strike against the top 6,passing then through the openings 30. At the same time the products of combustion from the central tube pass up through the central opening 19` and in like manner pass `out the openings 30, a certain portion of said flame and product passing through the tubes 20 thus heating'the central part fof the water chamber. Since the openings 13 are directed inward toward the water chamber the flames from these openings irst 'strike against this chamber beforev passing out through the openings 21 and in likefmanner only the central part of the flame from the openings 16 passes through the tubes 20 the remaining A` `portion striking the Walls ofv the tubular chamber 11 thus also assisting in heating the water chamber.

.. he device is thus adapted to be :used notV only for ordinary cooking purposes but also Y for heating water and that without the unnecessaryy loss of any heat.

There has` thus been provided a 'simple yand eiiicient device of the kind described and of the character sneciied.

Having thus described 'the invention, 'what is claimed as new, is y l1. In a stove of 'the class described, an inner casing having a Water chamber disposed therein, a horizontally extending tubular opening formed centrally of the water chamber, a gas supply tube extending into said tubular opening, pockets at Veach side 'offsaid central opening, and tubes connectin'g saidcentral yopening and Said pockets.
