, Be it known that, we, JOHN SELLERS BAN-V CROFT and MAURITZ C. INDAHL, citizens of the United States, and residentsof Philadelphia, in the county of Philadelphia and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Galley Mechanism for Type-Composing Machines; and we do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and. exact description of the V same, reference being had'to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this SPQClfiCfi tion, and to the figures and letters of reference marked thereon. This invent on relates to improvements in or upon type composing. machinesof the;
class illustrated in Patent No. 625,998,:dated May 80, 1899, wherein the composed matter is set up a line at a time, and the successive lines, as produced, are assembled in column form in a galley, and it has for its principal object to facilitate and simplify the conversion of the galley mechanism from a right 'to a left hand delivery, andvice verse, to

By loosening said connection the galley blade can be set to either side of the line channel and adjusted to the desired width thereof, its inner end riding in aguide 18 adjustably mounted as uponone of the sustaining jaws 5, said guide being adjusted to the predetermined width of the line channel. A galley mechanism for type composing machines equipped to receive a rev verslble' llne transferring member, and n combination therewith, a movable galley blade provided with means for setting or adjusting the same on either side of the line assembling channel in opposition tothe line transferrer a reversible line carrier located b on the same side of the line channel as the line transferrer; and means for supporting a galley in the same plane on either side of the line channel.
