DIE-STOCK OILER.

To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that 1, JOHN W. BRENNEssnL, a citizen of the United States, and residing at Brooklyn, in the county of Queens and State of New, York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Die-Stock Oilers, of which the'following is a specification, such as will enable those-skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
.This invention relates to die stocks, and the object thereof is to provide a device of this class, of the usual construction, with improved means for oiling or lubricating the operative parts, and with this and other -ob ects in view the invention consists in means for oiling a die stock or the operative parts. thereof, constructed and operating as hereinafter described and claimed;
The invention is fully disclosed in the following specification, of which the accompanying drawing forms apart, in which the separate parts of my improvement are designated by suitable reference characters in.
each of theviews, and in which Figure 1 is a side view of an ordinary die stock provided with my improvements; Fig. 2 a transverse section on the line 2 '2 of Fig. 1, and on an enlarged scale; Fig. 3 a transverse section on the line 33 of Fig 2; Fig. 4 a side view of my improved o ling device detached from the stock; and Fig. 5 a perspective view of-a bracket plate, which I employ in securing the oiling device to the die stock.
In the accompanying drawing I have shown at a an ordinary die stock having end extensions a with which are connected the ordinaryhandles a andv the stock is provided centrally of the back thereof with a tubular neck a through which the work piece I) is passed. The stock a is also provided centrally of the opposite sides thereof,
with apertures a through which the scrap produced by the operation of the die is dis charged and in the front of the body of the die are placed the usual die jaws c, and all these features are or may be of the usual or any preferred construction.
In the practice of my invention I provide a small oiltank (Z, which is rectangular and oblong in form and provided at the bottom with a downwardly and forwardly directed neck d having a forwardly and downwardly directed nozzle d which is protected, when the device is not in use, by a tubular cap cZ I screwed into the neck 05 which is threaded as shown at d for this purpose.
The tank 03 is provided centrally of the top thereof with a neck (Z on which is mounteda tubular cap (Z having threaded connection with the neck (Z and the cap (Z is provided in the top thereof with a conical recess d having a small port cl, which communicates with the interior thereof and placed in said cap and normally resting on the neck d is a valve 6 which is vertically movable in said cap, and the opposite sides of which are provided with grooves e and said valve is provided in -tl1e top thereof with a raised part a whic is adapted to close the port d when the die stock or tool is inverted or turned over.
The tank (Z is connected with the die stock by an L-shaped bracket plate f provided'in the top thereof with a longitudinal slot i and at the bottom thereof with a foot piece f and a screw 9 which is passed through the foot piece f into the neck a of the'die stock, and the back of the tank (Z is provided centrally of the top thereof with a screw it which passes through the slot f in the bracket plate f and is provided with a nut k and by means of this construction the tank may be firmly connected with the die stock Whenever desired and easily detached therefrom when necessary.
The die stock a is provided on both sides thereof with a longitudinal flange or rib a" against which the front side of the tank (Z abuts when in position, as clearly shown in Fig. 1, and the neck a! at the back of the stop.
The details of the construction (Z of the oil tank (Z, including the valve 0 are for the purpose of admitting air to the tank (Z so as to permit of the free flow of the oil through the nozzle (Z and in filling the tank (Z with oil the cap {Z with the valve 6 is detached.
By means of the slot 7 in the bracket plate f, and the screw it with its nut if, the tank d may be adjusted if desired, and within certain limits toward and from the die stock,
and my invention does not in any way permit the use of the screw 9, and while I have shown and described the preferred form and construction of my improvement, my invention is not limited to the exact details thereof as herein set out, and changes therein and modifications thereof may be made within the scope of the appended claims, without departing from the spirit of my invention or sacrificing its advantages. ' Having fully described my invention, what I claim ,as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is 1. The'herein described oiling device for die stocks comprising a tank provided at the bottom thereof with a discharge nozzle, and at the top thereof with a tubular neck having a detachable tubular cap provided in the top portion thereof with an air port, and
a vertically movable 'valve placed in said cap and adapted to close said port.

An oiling device for die stocks, co'n1 prising a tank provided at the bottom thereof with avdischarge nozzle and at the top thereof with a cap having in the topportion thereof an air port, and a valve placed in said cap and which opens inwardly and closes outwardly, said discharge nozzle being also provided with a detachable cap.
