a citizen of the United States of America, residing at Dauphin and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Type-Writing Machines, of which the following is-a specification.
My present invention relates to type;- writer and is moire particularly directed to the improvement of that class of typewriters in which the printing is effected by means of key-operated printing wheel.

As the typecharacters I are distributed around the periphery ofthe wheel 14: in in rows, it. is necessary to rotate the wheel in one direction or the other to bring the desired type opposite the printing point. The vibrator 19 also in cludes arms 22 extended in opposite directions from its axis of movement and pivotally connected respectively links 23 with swinging arms 24: mounted at the oppositeends of theframe. The arms 22 are adapted to coact with cam faces 25 formed at the rear edge of the plate 9. Each of the links 23 is connected by means of a connecting rod 26 with a key-operated slide 27.
Each of the slides 27 is movable between a' pair of guides 28 between which and the opposite sides of theshde are interposed anti-friction members as for instance balls 29 accommodated in race ways 30 and 31 formed inlthe contiguous faces of the guides *justing the guides transversely an accurate and slide respectively.- The balls'are separated by separating pins 29 carried by the slide. The guides-28 are adjustably secured to the base plate 1 as by screws 32 passed upwardly through slots in the plate 1 and into suitably threaded openings in the guides. What I claim is 1. In a typewriter, the combination with a platen and type wheel, of wheel operating means including a slide having a graduated series of contact rolls and a'series of key levers for operating said slide and coacting with the contact rolls thereof. 2.
