"ESTER,
of the pipe, ik@ wat@ m @minimised ai? ef "a emi-fain@ gas; is separated from t@ l@ described more tion of centrifugal force and' is collected in an internalgas space -jo within-the rotatin tank g, .which space is preferably arrange to communicate witha compressed air elivery pipe l throu h -a hollow shaft k. f Leading inward y'toward the shaft from the collecting tank fis aseries of ducts m which correspond with the uptake of the trompe and deliver the water tothe water passages n withinthe fixed casing o., whence 1t vpasses through the discharge pipe p to the soigne of supply.
isAlternatively, as shownin Flg. 3, the ducts m" ma deliver the water to the inlet of a .fsecon impeller a which is preferably of the same characterk as the impeller a andy is mounted on' thesame shaft and-dischargesL the water throughs suitable nozzles d into the fixed `casing o, this second' pump being provided, for example, for thepurpose of annulling the hydrostatic. balance between the two sets of ducts e and m 'of the water y circuit leading to and from the collecting tank f or for they purpose of increasing the 'pressure of the water `having the rotary trompe so as to deliver it to a cooling tower when,'for instance, the trompe is'used as a rotaryet condenser, or to a surface condenser when the apparatusl is used for supplying cooling water to lsuch a condenser, in which case the fixed casing of the trompe may be connected? with the condenser in lieu of a dry a'ir pump in such manner as to extractjthe air from the vacuum space.
The apparatus may be duplicated or otherwisemultipl'ed, the various units being arranged towork in parallel or (so far as the water circulation is concerned) in series,
drawing from the same source of water, and
in the case of the parallel arrangement drawing from the same gas space and delivering to a common reservoir.
While the invention has been hereinbefore particularly with reference to its application to compressors it is to be understood that the same' general arrangement may be adapted for the production of vacua lin inclosed spaces or for condensing steam or other condensable gases or for purifying gases. In the 'lastmentioned caseit is desirable toprovide means fordischarging the solid matterwhich may accumulate in the rotating tank'constituting the collector or separator of the rotary trompe, and with this object as shown'in Fi 4, the tank may have provided at `rtheperip ery of the casing -g a suitably constricted annular outlet or a series of' nozzles such as 9 delivering to a suitably constructed ductor ducts y formed in the ,xed casing-,0,V the outlet of which ducts isi provided with aivalve 7" which is normally closed but upon v'opening which any solid .matten accumulated inthe'outcr part of .thei'otating tank f can be blown out atrding disposed and the admixtureo'f gas and V intervals required.v
Having thus described-the natureof this invention and the best means Iv know of carrying the same into practical effect, vI l 1. A rotary pump, condenser or compressor based' upon the principle of the trompe and comprising in one integral ro- -tating structure a water pump member and ejector, a compressor and a collect0r',.and means 4for introducing the gasor vapor to i lbe entrained into the rotating structure near the periphery ofthe water pumping portion thereof.
2. A rotary trompe comprising a centrifugal water ump impeller connected with a'- water supp y, an ejector device at the' periphery of the water pumping portion ofthe son,V
impeller and connected with a gaseous fluid i space, a centrifugal ,collector` or separator into which the ejectordischarges, the'said impeller, ejector and collector forming an integral rotating structure, 'and means for integral rotating structure a centrifugal pump and ejector, a water sealed tank rotating therewith, outwardly directed ducts leading from the ejector to the said tank.
