This invention relates to a new and nseful improvement in pulverizers of that type commercially "known as the Williams Mille, characterized by pivoted revolving hammers which act upon the material as it enterS the machine et the hopper or feed encl thereof, crnshing said matcrial as it reste npon the bottom of the hopper, or.
breaker plate, as it is sometimes called, the material being further clisintegrated or crushed by the hammers acting thereon as the material is carried over the cage or grinding surface. The crushed material -fallsthrongh the, openings in the cage or grinding surface into a suitable receptacle locatcd beneath the machine.
The hammers or beaters Whicl 1 revdlve about tlie shaft, while macle of a material whose resistance to wear is its essential quality, will, in time, 'wear away at-their striking ends, and the farther these striking ends arc removed from thebreaker plate and grmding surface, the less becomes the capacity of the machine.
' It is the purpose of my present invention to provide. simple means whcreby these re voiving hammers or beaters may be adjusted. ontwardly to take up the wear (or in-' wardly, if occasion requires, as when a new cage 1S 1ntrcdnced to replace a worn one), sazci means consisting of a series of dxsks which.pass rods upon which the hammers or beatersare pivotally mounted. The slots in one series of disks are oppositely disposed relative to the sl0ts in the opposite set of disks, and thus, when the adjustable set of disks is rotated, the rods which pass throngh the slots are moved radially relative to the shaft, and tlie hammers are adjsfed inwardl y or.otwztrdly, depending npon the direction of rotation 01: the adjustable disks.
To the above purposes, my invention consists in certain novel features of construction and arrangement of parts hereinaiter more fnlly described and claimed.
Referring by nnmerals to the accomanying drawings, 1 indicates the casing of the pulverizer, 2 the breaker plate, 3 the grinding surface or cage, and 4.the cover of the machine which may be lmng or monnted npon tl1e casing, as desired.

Loosely monnted npon tl1e sliaft 5 is a sleeve 7, which latter is arranged for rotation in snitable bearings8 formed on the. sides of the casing, and one end of said sleeve is provided with a head 9 ha:ving a clntch face 10.
