To all whom it may concern.'

Be it known that CLARA C. MOORE, a citizen of the United States, -residing at Jacksonville, in the county of Morgan and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Cake-Coolers, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to kitchen and table articles and more specifically to cake coolers.

rilhe object of my invention 1s to provide a device for cooling a cake when it is turned out of the pan in which it was baked, without making the top crust soggy as it always must be unless the' steam is allowed to escape. rlhis is accomplished by providing a raised porous stand under which the air may circulate freely and upon which the cake is laid. A cloth cover is provided to keep the cake from contact with the metal. portion of the cooler, and as it is easily attached and detached it may readily be removed and cleaned. .This device is simple and durable in construction and eiicient i operation.

Other objects of this invention not at this time more articularly enumerated, will be clearly un erstood from the detailed description and drawings forming a part of this specification. p

Furthermore, this invention consists in the novel arrangement and combination of arts more particularly described in the folowing specification and embodied in the claim appended hereunto and forming a part of this application.

Referring further to the drawings wherein similar reference characters designate similar parts throughout the respective views, 1 designates a substantial metal frame, with legs 2 formed integral therewith along the edge and preferably at the corners thereof. A plurality of metal strips or relatively heavy wires 3 are spaced apart from one side of the frame vto the other, while similarly arranged strips orwires are interposed between the .other sides of the frame and intersecting said first mentioned strips or wires at right angles thereto. The said strips or Wires 3 are covered by a fine Wire meshe, said wire mesh being 'secured at the sides'to frame 1. A. cover 5, made preferably of cheese-cloth,is adapted to cover the top of the wire mesh and frame above described. At each corner of said cover a ring 6 is secured, adapted to engage with the legs 2 of the metal rest as shown in Fig. 3 of the drawings. The cover may be of sub stantially the same size as the outer circumference of the frame 1, and as the material used is easily stretched, the rings secured thereto may readily be engaged with the legs of the metal rest by drawing them down singly over the edge of the frame 1 and slipping the ring over the leg. When the last ring is engaged with a leg, the cloth cover is taut and smooth upon the frame.

The utility, ada tability, and advantages of my improved orm of cake cooler being obviously apparent, it is unnecessary to further enlarge upon the same herein.

Having now described and pointed out the new and useful features of my invention, ll do not limit myself to the shape of certain parts where the shape is not essential, nor do ll restrict myself to the exact details of construction shown and described, but mean and intend to claim all equivalents and variations thereof not departin .inl principle from my invention and falling within the `eurview of the appended elaim.

lin a device of the kind described, in combination, a rectangular frame, legs formed on the corners of said frame, cross-rods interposed between the sides of said frame, a wire mesh said cross-rods and secured upon 1d frame, a rectangular cloth eo'extensive in size with said frame, and a plurality of rin members each of which is mounted on sai cloth at the corners thereof and are adapted to engage with said legs to hold the cloth taut upon the mesh.
